I'm actually really curious to see the outcome of this one. I've discussed ad nauseam the turbos on the 335 in a lot of circles, I'm definitely curious to see what happens. It really sucks that it happened to you man, especially when it looks like you babied the car!

update:
BMW USA has agreed to charge half of cost on the turbo ($2200) and eat the labor costs. The dealer did ~ $800 in unnecessary repairs due to misreading the initial diagnosis so they're going to credit back some of that towards the price as well. I am relieved as I didn't really feel like litigating a claim against BMW but would have if necessary.

I guess $2200 for turbo replacement and labor is somewhat reasonable... i dont know the market price.

So 2200/2= $1100 -$800 = $300 ?
Very nice

I was quoted $3600 to repair a BMW 6yo rear differential and under pressure they agreed to goodwill 50%, leaving me with a $1800 tab. It might have passed if it wasn't a part of a serie.
Conclusion in your case; wouldn't have happened with a larger NA engine.

Have you heard of the 4.0 S65 v8 rod bearing failures ?

Well, the dealer did go out of its way and ate some more costs and got the final tally down to $1997 with tax. We are very happy with that given the prospect of the initial prognosis cost of $4500+

thanks dude, Probably keep it at least another 50K miles. It's a great car and goes like hell with the 6 speed tranny and is a rock star in the snow with Blizzaks.

Would it be possible to share with us your total cost after the warranty ran out, and other maintenance items its needed (in addition to the Turbo)?
Appreciate the info

minimal-only routine oil/transmission services, that's it. Brake pads/rotors were changed before service contract ran out. Literally I'd say less than $300 with wipers since 50K. I may have misspoke before, the car only has 65K on it now.

I'm glad this all worked out for you, I really liked your car when I drove it (one like it would be more accurate), fine car!
