Bad bad luck, my friend. Good thing CLKs have such great resale value, though. For awhile there they had the best resale out there...period. I wonder who's in the lead now?

What is it going to be this time? Do you think you'll end up with another CLK500 vert? Try checking out an S4 Cab as well--difficult to find, but probably the nicest vert out there in this class of car (IMHO).

For insurance reasons; don't you only get what your vehicle is worth at the time of the wreck (immediately before the accident) if it is totaled?

Ouch...that sucks, Jack. Glad it was just the car.

So what're you looking at this next time around?

I know, I'm very glad she's ok and it's only the car. She called me while I was sleeping 2am in the morning all shaken up. The impact wasn't bad but it wasn't good neither. The miniVan with NY plate was coming out of the EZ pass zone traveling fairly fast from the far right side, while she got her NJTP ticket from the left side. She was heading toward South bound (right side) while the NY driver was heading toward the North bound (left side). I guess the minivan thought she could cut her off and hurry toward the NY entrance and struck her rear right side and blew out the tire. I am just glad no one was injured and just an unfortunate accident.
Our insurance company will go after them and said they'll obtain the footage from the NJTP authority since it was a toll booth and they have everything captured. Hannah said she never got comfortable with the CLK since she's been driving the G for so long......

But thanks for the kind of words guys.

He was ok with the idea that I didn't want that particular Benz and told him I'm going to shop around before making my final decision.

I bought the CLK5 for $48,000. The insurance cut us a check close to that amount since the accident will most likely won't be her fault. The S4 is nice but with my experience on letting her drive the S/C'd TL. She barely hit boost so I think I'll get her something "not so fast" lol.

I am not sure what to get yet. She's currently driving a rental car and doesn't really care what she drives except another CLK5. Her words were "now I dislike Mercedes, they are bad luck."

this week I'll be up in Montreal, so I'll start my car shop <again> starting monday. Hopefully this time around, the car will last a good 5 years at the least.

my family has a 2007 Range Rover HSE and a 2006 LR3 V8.

Both are freakin great cars! but we always loved land rovers. The Range Rover hasnt had a problem yet. We have the fully spec-ed out model too. I do love driving the range, but the only problem is that its kinda small for an suv that was meant to go on off-roading trips or just long road trips in general. The rear seats are kinda cramped and the useability of the trunk is kinda eh.. not enough space, and trying to put the seats down and up will give you some massive cuts and bruises all over your arms.

the LR3 is a different story though. first, its a beast.. it ride high, but it actually goes around corners pretty nicely. the driving position is VERY comfortable, more than my TL. while it absorbs the bumps nicely, its not so absorbing that it makes you feel like youre on a boat.

also love the third row seats, that takes seconds to put up and down, plus its very roomy back there. the fold flat third and second rows are great! so much space.

the Range is definitely really sporty, looks great, and fun to drive. The LR3 is more of a hauler. A lot of room and great functionability

we bought the Range brand new with 2.3 miles on it. now it has 18000 miles, it never gave us a problem. The LR3, also bought brand new. Has about 13000 miles. Also no problems ever. Both of them we use it like off-roaders. they get alot of beating too, but still great! only problem is the gas mileage.. haha for the LR3, you'll be lucky if you can get that thing in double digits MPG. the Range goes for about 14MPG.

oh, but then again, both these cars are NYC miles.. which is pretty much all stop and go. the LR3, we went on trips with that a few times, but mostly City driving. these things are tanks!

^ I know you Aaron. I met you at one of the meet up in North Jersey 2 years back with your white TL. Thanks for the write up buddy, I don't think I'm going toward the Rover route.

This is her car when it was spanking new. Its condition now is not so good looking

I agree with your wife- the Audi Q just doesn't have an attractive exterior (nor does the VW Taureg, although the Cayenne looks nice for an SUV).
Maybe a Saturn Vue V6 or Saturn Aura?
It sounds like the doc needs a decent, safe but almost disposable car from her collision history!

The G35 has been in total of 5 accidents lol.... It has close to 98,000 miles and somewhat still running great. She likes little sedans or coupes like the G or the IS250. But I want to get her something big, so if she does get it... then at least she's safe.

She likes the BMW 645Ci but I'm not a fan of the BMW. We are actually on our way to check out a 645Ci now. Will update later

She doesn't, the G35 is finally in the shop getting the long overdue necessarily fix. I'm not letting her take my TL so the only other car to take is her sister's P.C.S. She doesn't like it because it attracts too much attention while she's driving.

Yes, I like my S/C'd TL over that Porsche 911

since everyone is suggesting random cars. i'll say Jag XK .
I didn't really like it at first from just pictures, but i saw an XKR on the road the other day and it was a real neck breaker.

but going from a 50k car to an 80k car is no laughing matter either

Range Rovers are very unreliable. I have three friends that all have black 2006 Range Rover Sports, 2 supercharged and one not. Two of them have been towed to the dealership once and the other has all kind of thing falling apart( interior peices).

Ours is on order! I drove the car in March of this year and I expected enough performance.I still thought it would be good but not incredible since it was a S not a RS. Try one it will convince you.

The wifey likes the BMW 645ci but she doesn't want me to pay that much money for one. She wants to take a look at the CR-V because it's cheap and reliable :snickers: We'll hit Toyota then take her to Porsche to look at the Caynne later hehehe

I like the new CR-V, I think it's one of the best re-designs, everything about it, the front especially and the tail lights too... just wish it came with a V6 option

How in the world do you from a CRV to a 645ci? If you want cheap, reliable than the Rav4 is the best one(with an incredible V6)...but if luxury is needed then a Cayenne V6 or S should do the job and plus it's a Porsche.

what's wrong with having a broad range in taste? Before buying my FX, I was interested in the Subaru Legacy GT, then it was a Volvo S60R... then finally decided on the FX45... the only thing they have in common is the AWD

Well, she went from Accord to G35 then to CLK500. I don't think it's a big deal having a wide range of choices. She doesn't want to spend to money on a car where she can spend it on a new kitchen floor or plant a nice backyard garden. The CR-V looks good and I wanted her to feel comfortable and say "this is my car" rather than me just buying one for her and later tell me "I don't like it."

She seems to like the 645Ci but she also likes the IS350. We'll see

Congrats on your FX45.I test drove one two years ago and I wanted to buy it just for it's look and the exhaust note(Damn!) Nothing wrong with having a broad range in taste. I was just surprised it came from CRV to 645.
