raced an E36 M3 last night

Last night me and my friend are out going to King o prussia mall going down 322. Were just cruising down in some traffic when out of a no where a silver 1998 M3 pulls up and i notice he wants to go. My friend had raced him earlier that week with his A4, the guy had exhaust, intake and headers, so my friend said. Well i thought why not even if he blows me away still could be fun. So we start to get away from the crowd and soon the highway turns into 3 lanes so im right on him in 3rd gear going around 70 and as it opens up into 3 lanes we both go im on him preety good until about 110 then he starts to pull away then we slow up again menuver in some traffic and i gun it up to him and was able to get next to him and we were going preety good until he started to pull away again at 110. Then he got caught up behind a car and i got into the open so i slow up to about 60 and drop gears, he pulls up and guns it from behind so i gun it and i jumped him a lil but this time at around 115 he pulled on me. I may have lost but i lost to a modded M3. Hey not bad for a TL-p. Well he got off at the next exit, and that was it. A fun ride indeed.

E36 M is an awesome car for tuner guys. They make great power when modded and are starting to become affordable. I would love to buy one and drop a turbo in that sucka.

Years ago my boss let me drive his E36 M3 (what an intoxicating little car, even with snow tires) after I told him I'd lapped a couple of similar M3's, and several then current 325's on various occaisions at Shannonville Motorsport Park, in my lightly modified 88 Civic Si. I think it really came down to I had less to lose, because you'd think that there should be no way that a car with, maybe, 120-125hp could catch a 290hp M3 under braking at the end of a 1/4 mile straight, after having to battle some serious understeer issues coming out of the preceeding hairpin. [Acutally, I couldn't get by the M3's, but I could ride on their bumpers though the turns, and they knew that they could out-brake me at any time, so...they eventually just made it easy.]
