R&T video: Japanese sports sedan . TL Type-S vs. G35 Sport vs. IS 350
With Infiniti and Lexus rolling out next-generation models of their mid-size sports sedans and Acura bringing back its hopped-up edition of their popular four-door, this trio of Japanese sports sedans have got the goods. But which one is tops? Watch this preview video and find out. Want to decide for yourself? Then be sure to learn more by reading International Editor Sam Mitani’s comparison test in the February 2007 issue of Road & Track.

That was a horrific video. The guy's narration was cringe worthy and they gave very little reasoning why they placed the cars where they did.
They mentioned the G35 felt like it lacked torque, but every comparison test I have seen so far, the G35 is as fast as the IS350 and I'm sure it is faster than the TL-S.

The VQ35HR lacks torque?!?! ...that G35 must have been using 86 octane.

^ Narration was horrible. However, they did not give any criteria as to their rankings BECAUSE ... if they did ... why bother buying the magazine???

Couldn't see the vid either. Did you here their 1/4 times for the IS350? 13.5 with a 0-60 as tested by them of 4.9sec
Thats more like it considering that I see those times posted by others all the time.

G35
TL-S
IS350
I HATE the slatted grille on the IS and the triangular fog/air scoop openings. And the fact that it doesn't come with manual (is this true, or is it only the 350s?). And their stupid traction control system that you can't turn off without performing a monotonous pedal pushing sequence thats all too reminiscent of Contra cheat codes.
Love the TL-S, but the tails are just hideous, the torque steer is probably pretty bad (it is in a automatic 2G TL-S with VSA off) and it just costs more than it should, compared to the other cars in the same segment. I'll be the 5 millionth person to say this - I would rather get a 335i at that price, or at least for another couple grand.
I really like the G35 interior, the fact that its real wheel drive, and the high revving VQ. And its the most affordable. Not a fan of the G35 sport front bumper, but the journey one looks nice.

if G35 lacks torque then what does that make TLS?

Interestingly, I find the IS interior attractive, but poor quality. The fitment is good, however the quality of the materials is not (fake metal trim?), and unfortunately it doesn't seem to wear well. I place a lot of stock in how well an interior wears.
Regardless, if all three were the same price I'd go IS/G/TL. At their actual prices, I'd probably go G/IS/TL, however I may choose the TL over the IS. I just have a hard time with FWD cars.

Does anyone read this
I still think the G is a much better car than the TL-S. It’s faster has rear wheel drive and a ton of options that you just can’t get in the TL-S.
Plus there will be tons of motor parts that you will be able to get for the G35 to make that thing haul some real serious ass.
Look what the TL has hardly anything. I bet if you put an intake and exhaust on the G35 it will be faster than the supercharged TL’s out there.

Video is busted. What order did they place them?
I like how everyone continues to compare the TL to cars smaller than it instead of the V6 5-series, E class, GS and so on. Unfortunately Acura won't put any competitive engines in its TSX...............
