My friend in his modified (TBE, ecu upgrade, up-pipe, etc.) WRX raced a Cayenne (i know it is spelled wrong, but I am too lasy to look it up) Turbo. That thing hauls for being so damn heavy! The truck pulled him slightly, but steadily.

I recently test drove a FX45, definitely nothing to fuck with....
Also, the new supercharged Range Rover will be a suprise to many wanting to test it.

The FX45 does 0-60 in 6.3sec, I drove one recently......they are quick. I wouldn't exactly classify it as an SUV though, more of a raised wagon.

The GC SRT8 wil be the one to watch.....with a 0-60 time in under 5.0sec (faster than the current Cayenne Turbo).

With an est. base price of $40-$42k, its going to be a winner.

I dont think I would like to pull up next to a supercharged FX. They should have races with just "SUVs" at the track.

The Stillen SC is for the FX35 but yeah it would be pretty quick. I think it makes 400hp at the crank. It's the same exact kit as the one available for the 350Z and G35.

I think that is a pretty conservative number. I'm sure it can be more with tuning. And at the crank? Who measures that anymore?

Ha, I like the G55, or G-Wagons as they really are. Reminds of the Defenders from Landrover-a true offroad capable vehicle.

That's an optional oem package (like $18k)......the stock Cayenne Turbo is still 450hp.

There is going to be an increase in power soon though.

Also, the new Grand Cherokee SRT-8 should be insane. But how can a truck with similar horsepower to it's car cousins do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds when the cars are coming in at around the 5 second mark at 60.

That's what Jeep is promising, guessing the AWD is doing the trick......gearing possibly.

I actually liked driving the V8 toureg over the 4.8 X5. The steering felt firmer on the toureg.

great review here.

http://motortrend.com/roadtests/suv/...uvs/index.html

G55 AMG = 13.2 @ 103 !!!

don't know why they didn't test the 500hp Cayenne.

Actually, the brakes are so good on these craazy SUV's, that this is not really an issue.

Consider this - a 2005 SLK55 AMG stops from 60 mph in 115 feet, from 100 mph in 325 feet. The BMW X5 4.8is stops from 60 in 114 feet, 330 feet from 100 mph. The others stop in the 120's from 60 (but get progressively worse as the speed increases) - still not bad considering their weight - the BMW weighs the least at 5000 lbs. It has 14" brakes in front. The rest have 13.8" brakes in front and the rear brakes are almost as large. The Touareg weighs almost 6000 lbs and only need 122 feet to stop.

I think the jury's out on how much boost the VQ35DE can take without going . I'd like to boost my Maxima's VQ35 but I need to see a few more guinea pigs in action before that happens.

Good for mid 15's per the mags. The 05 Xterra is going to have the 4.0 liter in the Pathfinder for 285hp 260tq (or was it the other way around). Not sure of times.

The Cayenne base is slow though. I read a review. I think it was high 16s. Underpowered for it's massive 5000 lbs. I'd love to get a speed demon SUV but the gas will suck. ARe there any that don't sip too much?

...while rolling down I95 somewhere in the Carolinas during the middle of the night, I got walked on badly by an Armada (NJ tags) while going about 100mph+ in my minivan.

Armada = monster in size and power apparently.

Oh did I mention a rebuilt motor will be needed? But, the VQ35 can easily handle around 400whp @ 8-9 psi safely, higher then that you'll need to change the internals.

QX56 is also a pretty quick SUV for it's size. I think MotorTrend or R&T got 0-60 in 6.8s out of a QX with 4WD.
