Quick question on car lights

Can you guys school me on the type of lights on cars? Got a couple questions

Halogen = yellowish lights, HID = bright white light, 4000k = most cars use, usually bright white, 6000k purplish blue ? Am I right on these?

1. What are Xenon headlights / Bixenon headlights

2. What the hell are LED lights, and why do people want them on their tail lights.

Bixenons simply means that both the low and high beams are xenon gas bulbs, most cars (like my CL) have normal halogens for high beam lights and xenons for low beams.

LED lights are a type of light that doesn't have to "brighten", it's an instant on kind of light, which are usually brighter and much quicker acting than traditional brake lights. Look at the back of a current Cadillac at night, it goes from nothing to BAM instantly.

HID = Xenon lights

The lightbulb is filled with Xenon gas stimulated by the electric arc.

Halogen headlights are just that, they have a halogen (a category of elements), inside them, stimulated by electricity.

LED is a Light Emitting Diode. The conductor material is usually aluminum gallium arsenide. It has two kinds of things it's made out of. On one side, there's a material with electron deficiency (holes), and on the other there's a material with excess electrons. The junction is where the diode goes. These lights light up instantaneously, and they produce little to no heat, and the bulbs last VERY VERY long (probably the lifetime of the car).
