question about Nissan
#1. How is Nissan's quality? the reason I'm asking this a friend and I are having a friendly debate weither Nissan's quality is close to a Honda or Acura.(I say it's pretty close(as far as Nissan vs Honda Quality)
#2. How is there dealers treat customers(I know each one different) BUT if you've went to a nissan dealer were they cool or total jerk offs.

2. Don't know about Honda dealer vs. Nissan dealer...
But Nissan vs. Acura is even stupid to compare! Acura dealership ( in most of the cases ) will provide you with better service than Nissan.
If you want to compare Acura dealership, you need to compare it with Infinity....
I've never been a 'Nissan' person, and don't particularly like their designs or interior build quality. That being said, I think the three major Japanese car manufacturers are not that dissimilar in overall quality or delivered product.
Dealerships are dealerships. Some are good, some suck. The badge on the sign has little to do with the service inside.
Toyota/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Datsun/Nissan/Infiniti -- who cares? It's pretty much all the same good stuff. There's too much debate on these non-issues.

1. My Maxima has seen the shop for repairs about 4 times in the one year I've owned it (Transverse Link recall, MAF sensor, CD Player, Accelerator Pedal Stop recall). My Accord never saw the inside of a repair shop in its 1st two years. However, in its 3rd year, my Accord's auto tranny went bad and a coil spring went bad.
2. Dealers? No question, Honda dealers have MUCH better customer service. They express HIGH interest in maintaining customer satisfaction. EXAMPLE #1: My Accord was pretty well modded with all the bolt ons but they gave me NO problems and were more than willing to replace my tranny, despite me being just out of warranty. EXAMPLE#2: When my MAF sensor went bad in my Maxima, AAA (in an attempt to help as best they could) tried to reset the ECU by disconnecting-reconnecting the battery cable. To make a long story short, the Nissan dealer tried to give me a hard time about the battery having been disconnected in order to weasel out of repairing the MAF sensor.
I dont know if this answers any questions but the place i used to sell hondas at, well most of the service techs were all former nissan techs who switched to honda cause saying it was a better work environment and nissan service doesnt care about anything or anyone. As far as quality goes they said nissans are just as good and reliable except for the altimas. those were the problem cars. I personally was looking at maximas when i had to get a new car last oct. I thought the interior was cheap and poorly designed. Also, I was seriously going to buy a nissan 300zx 2 years ago and called a nissan dealership to find out about maintenance and they were trying to tell me i had to have it serviced every month for 200 bucks and major serviced every 6 months, even if i wasnt racing it.
whatever...
whatever...
1. We had no problems whatsoever with our former '94 and '96 Maximas, '98 Altima and '98 Q45....and I abused the HELL out of the Altima when we had it. None of our Nissans had a single squeak or rattle, unlike our TLs
2. The local dealers were assholes, both in the sales and service departments. We went through the 2 local dealerships and another 20 minutes away, then ended up at another one 40 minutes. But the local Acura dealership is pretty good, we have one salesman and one service advisor we deal with exclusively and we get treated how customers are supposed to.

My first car was a bulletproof 1989 Nissan Sentra. Not one damn problem. Nissans were never industry leaders like TOyota and Honda though.
It is worse now since Carlos Ghosen HAD to make the company money (Nissan is owned by Renault, SUPPORT THE FRENCH!) and he said it was about selling VOLUME and making more attractive cars. He has never mentioned quality control anywhere.
That company has totally turned it around with his vision. They are projecting a great image. But the Maxima guys had a thread about they did not have 255hp, the Altima board has recall stickies left and right and looking at JD Power, they are average.
So I think earlier Nissans will be more trouble free than new ones.
Concerning dealers, some people bought an I30/35 for the great Infiniti service. People are stepping up to 30k G35s instead of 30k Altimas and Maximas also, cause of dealer service.
If you don't know someone on the inside, no matter what car you own, you probably will not be satisfied.

I own a 2001 Altima SE, and the dealer has taken good care of my car. The only bad thing about the car were the windows motors (3 so far) which have been replaced under warranty (Nissan will not provide a loaner, but the dealer have done that for me at their cost)
