Quality Bondo?

Hey guys, before I get bashed :whipping2 for asking. My wife's old car, 96 Toyota Tercel was hit by a bullet as she was driving to work a few years ago. I was wanting to fix the hole.

So anyways where can I get some GOOD QUALITY bondo, and not just some cheap shit. I want to fix it right and make it look good enough to sell. Yes I will paint it over too, I have plans for that.

Evercoat rage gold. You may check your local auto body supply places , but Eastwood caries it online.

On another note. I don't really like using filler on something so deep, especially when it doesn't have a solid piece of metal behind it. Large amounts of filler tend to set unevenly and the cracked metal moves as it heats and cools. My only experience with filler was in high school, but the repairs I did that were a thin coat < 1/4 still look great 10 years later, but the sketchy ones started to fail within months of being painted.

*edit*

Holy crap you are in Tucson. Try the finishmaster store at the south east corner of stone and grant. Unlike me they actually know what they are talking about. You can also try the napa on south euclid, they have a pretty good paint/autobody store in the back.

This happened off of I-10 and Grant when the freeway was under construction. It appeared to be road rage between 2 other cars. She was the innocent bystander.

I was debating about taking the headliner out or move it enough to kind of reform the hole to make it shallower.

No insurance? I would have claimed it.

That said i would try to shrink the damage area then use Body Filler.

Evercoat rage gold is good stuff. Check your local Auto "Paints" stores, not parts stores. They typically carry the best stuff.

Personally, I'd remove the headliner and do it properly. If you don't have one, then purchase a cheap body hammer and heel dolly. Lightly sand around the exterior of the hole and gently tap the inside of the dent outwards, using the dolly placed against the other side. Work it carefully until it's more or less straight.

I'm currently using Standox products and love them. They are only available from a body shop supplier however. As other have mentioned, check out vendors such as NAPA. For a job like that you certainly wouldn't need that much.

Claim it? If they know of the people involved with the road rage incident (see police report?), I would even see if you can file it against their insurance (not sure if that's possible).

^The OP said it happened a few years ago, I doubt insurance would even give a dime to fix it since the car's value wouldn't be significant in their eyes.

I'd try to pound as much as the metal out as I could so you would use less body-filler for a better repair. IMO you can try to stick an L shaped tool in the tear and work out the dent as it's on a pillar and would be hard to get to from the inside.
