Ok, here is the deal. My car has 126,000 miles on it, with original tranny. I did some work on it, and think I might have delayed problems or replacement, but that still lingers over my head. I went to the Honda dealer today and looked at a 2005 Civic. After some talking we came to a number. It would be $25 more per month on payment, with a 60 month note. I still owe 2 more years payment with the CL. I also called my insurance and it would go up $35 a month, with a total of $60 more per month. If I keep the CL it will soon need new rotors and an alignment, and other things that come with a high mileage car. Good thing is that my rims will fit the new car so I won't want to buy new ones. Another good thing is the gas mileage. I get about 25mpg with the CL, and would get about 37-40 range with the Civic. I am just afraid that if/when the tranny goes out I will need $3500, and that would put me in a world of hurt. So, I ask your opinion, dear fellow CL'ers. Do I wait out the tranny, or do I trade her in for the Civic?

I'm in you same situation. Still have 2 years left on the note for my 97. Car payment + insurance = 400/mo for a 8 year old car Trying to get rid of mine as we speak and buy something used outright so I dont have a car payment. Its a matter of choice on your part. Do you want a new car and another 5 year payment plan? Or do you sell the CL, take whatever money you have left and buy a used car until you save up more money for a new one.

I know. this is what I am trying to do now, but choosing a reliable car for around 2k that I wont have to dump money into is kinda hard.

dont get a civic.....look at a 2003-2004 accord instead....it will be about the same price and whole lot pimper
buying a used car thats 1 or 2 years old is smarter in my opinion....id rather settle for a used higher end car than a new chick car

the 1.7L on the civic really isn't that bad...
plus, u can redline it all u want, and still get 35 MPG~ which is really nice...
i had mine for about 3 years, and loved it, and had no problems at all..
i suggest you stop by www.7thgencivic.com ..its a really good forum to go on if you have a 7th gen..^^
hope it helps~
oh..and another thing, civics have crazy resale value.
when i traded in my stock civic, it had 45,000 miles on it, bald tires, was missing a hubcap, but i still managed to get $11,500 for it as a trade in~
i paid $15,500 when i got it new~
so i say that it has a excelent resale value to it..
