PolishPete Bought A Car !!

I finally bought a car. Thanks to all the guys that helped out, it’s much appreciated, and to the guys that thought I just wanted attention…well I just wanted opinions and info so that I could make an educated decision. I decided to lease an A4. I choose this route because the car had all the features I wanted, plus the lease offer for the Special Editions was very good.

THE BUY
I started by going to see a friend of my cousins. My cousins is a sales manager for Volvo, and sent me to someone he used to work with that was at Audi. The guy was nice, but pretty much assumed the sale right away and didn’t really want to work for it. Said he was doing me a favor and that I needed to by right away because the car was rare and would be gone. It was $2,500 down and $538 a month. That was my starting point. I used 3 dealers and let them know I was looking for the best deal, and would buy from the best (price and service). Ended up going with Schaumburg Audi because the lady was super nice, and willing to go way out of her way to make/help the sale.

I offered the friend of my cousins to get the sale first after I got the quote from Schaumburg Audi, but he didn’t want to look for one with a CD changer. The one he had had everything I wanted, except it had the ipod connection which replaces the CD changer (its either-or in Audi, and the ipod is terrible in Audis. Basically shows you 6 playlists, no titles, nothing. Just 6 playlists numbered 1 through 6), so that was out of the question. He said he couldn’t find one because they were impossible to find, and that I should buy what he had because it was rare enough. Also, he didn’t believe I got the deal I did (basically thought I was bluffing and said to take the deal if that’s what they’re offering)…so I did. Schaumburg Audi tried to get one exactly how I wanted, that was just delivered to the US and on a train, but couldn’t get that dealer who was getting it to give it up. So they paid to have one shipped from Wisconsin. On top of that…it had Bluetooth which was another option on top of the Nav, Convenience, Premium, Special Edition packages, and they didn’t charge for that since the quote was already done.

THE CAR DETAILS:

2008 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro Special Edition
Black on Black Automatic
Fully Loaded
-Nav and Convenience Packages
-SE adds heated seats, sunroof, SE wheels, Sirius free for 1 year, S-Line Exterior
15K mile lease
$999 down (sign and drive), $497 a month, buyout of $20,000 at the end. First month paid by Audi (35 payments to make), no security deposit, etc. Just $999 at signing.

Thrown In:
Free Audi Care Maintenance (all scheduled maintenance included)
Free Winter Floor Mats
Free Audi Coffee Travel Mug
Nice Schaumburg Audi Key Chains and Pen
Free Car Washes for life of car
Free service pickup (drop off a loaner, and pick up the car from you)

Overall, I’m super happy with the car and the service I got from Schaumburg Audi in IL. I’m typing this now and posting as I leave work. I’ll post some pics tonight when I get home.

Thanks again to all the guys that contributed over the past few months.

Nice...now what you do is drive the car over to the other sales manager with a copy of the deal, hand it to him, and smile and drive off.

Thats the Audi Lease Deal. $399, $0 Down, 10K miles (but you said 12K). Thats the actual deal. But you still pay tax, title, etc. So really its $2500 + down and $399/mo. Now I'm sure you could work off of that...but the $399 and $0 down is their advertised promotion. Now add in $6K in options and you have a whole different deal. Thats what I did. Saw the promotion, knew it was for a basic SE, added the features I wanted, then worked a deal down from their.

Here are the pics:

Beautiful car! Get her tinted and lowered. Look for some type of exhaust system too, that 2.0T motor sounds great when it's a little louder. If I'm not mistaken the car comes with Bi-Xenons headlamps right? I'm asking maybe you turned them off. Apart from the deal you got, how do you like her so far?

Thanks guys.

Car is great. Handles like a charm. No oversteer like with the TL...so I'm having some moderate fun around corners (still new engine).

Tints and a new filler plate for the front with no license plate holder are my first mods, probably going to get done this week or next week.

Going to tint the reflectors on the sides after that, and possibly some light bass. Maybe 1 decent sub in the back, but keep everything stock speaker wise.

Over the winter I'll pickup some rims and coil overs to drop it and put them on in the spring hopefully.

Probably drive it a year or year and a half, then chip it. So just as I'm easing into it, I'll add some power, and hopefully it'll be like a whole new car and keep me happy.

Yes, they're bi-xenons...just look yellow in the pic for some reason. They look just like any other bi-xenons in person...very white.

I just got my brother:
Brilliant Black/Black
2.0T Quattro (Non SE) Automatic
Premium
Convenience
Navigation with iPod (which sucks ass btw)
Bluetooth
S-Line Package (not just appearance)
Titanium Package
MSRP was somewhere close to $41k, if I remember correctly
I think that was all...36 mos/10k miles NY tax included: $375 per month
We chose NOT to get AudiCare, it would have added about $10/month (it can be residualized) to the payment, but he didn't want it.

My cousin who works with me just got the same options, only his was an SE, and the color is phantom black, and 6 speed manual, 27 mos/12k miles/year for $447 per month...That's what I call a good deal...I was very well connected (also good to be in the business) and definately can not duplicate that deal to anyone...After driving my cousin's car, I and my brother wish that he got it in stick...DEFINATELY better than the auto...Overall I like both cars, but would prefer S-Line by itself, without the Titanium Package..makes the car too dark, IMO..

Oh you lucky bastard.

Grats on a beautiful car!

Now go get a chip that'll add an easy +20 HP to the wheels on that sucker. (Actually, I don't know if that works on the 2.0 engines, but I'm sure theres something like that out there.)

Congrats!!

Get it chipped! I say don't do any other mods, it would be PITA to put everything back to stock after 2 years.

Good stuff. It's nice to know people!!

I'd like stick, but only temporarily. I sit in a lot of rush hour traffic, so I'd get pretty tired of it pretty quick.

Seems like you can get some pretty decent power out of the chips for the 2.0. About 50 hp for about $600 if I'm understanding it correctly. But really there's only so much you can do without upgrading the turbo itself. I'm not really all into that. I'd like to roll classy, but stand out a little with sporty touches. Probably tint, a slight drop, and the RS4 replica rims most notably/visible. Chip later on.

Good deal on a good car. Glad you were able to get it from someone whom you wanted to get it from, too...that's hard to do with cars.

Yup, that's me. Its funny you recognized that. I browse there a lot, and only post sporadically.

From what I understand the reliability is great. Not really any know issues (example: oil consumption in 05' G35's), or anything like that.

You're right. I've browsed at a lot of cars, been to a lot of dealers, and bought a few in the past few years, and this was the first time I had a salesperson that really knew what they were doing related to the car. She was an Audi enthusiast, and knew a lot about them which really impressed me. I'm sure there are other great salespeople out there, but before her I've only dealt with SALESpeople. Those who focus on the SALE and not on the car. Which is only part of their job in my opinion. You gotta know your product and fit your customer to it... that makes the SALE easy. They usually try to fit a car onto a customer and force the SALE.

If anyones in the IL area and interested in the future, I recommend you see Kat at Schaumburg Audi. She's the internet salesperson. That's how I started the deal, through email.

Audi leases are practically at a 0% APR right now, you picked a great time to stop procrastinating.

I guess good things come to those who wait.

haha there is not such thing as a SE (special edition) audi, or at least its not called that. its S-line and its a normal audi a4 with a S package to make it look like S4. you also get some other options with it. NICE CAR man I am into audis and I love what you have there. also that chip can get you in the upwards of 60hp (to the engine not wheels). search up APR tuning, GIAC, or REVO and go from there. they each offer something different. good thing is you can simply take it off before going to the dealer and they cant find out that you had anything there that can void your waranty. good luck with the new car, I sure wish I can afford one
