they're lights the ones that are bright they shoot at you when you're pulled over. some cops like the center + door lights. some of the cops around here have HID door lights which are BRIGHT AS HELL.(it almost hurts to look into the rearview mirror). you add in that big monster on top it will blind you.

It was on ABC news a while back during the Inaguration. They were talking about the upgraded security and were showing some of the newest additions.

I always thought it was something along the lines of that. its a pretty wooded area and i thought it was so they could catch kids from busted parties.

so they must have it hooked up to the computer moniter

Yeah, I have always wondered what those things were, I'd see them on the cop cars in Greenwich back at home all the time. I always assumed they were probably nightvision or whatever. I always crack up when I see Greenwich police cars, because they have those big "christmas tree" lights like the highway patrol do on the LIE. I have yet to ever see a Greenwich cop use them.

BTW, does anyone else hate those new LED light bars that cops are getting, they're freaking bright

I thought that those white lights they shine on you at night were on the door and in the lightbar?

what sucks is that normally i can spot a cruiser from a mile away because of the big light bars and now with the LEDs its really hard to spot them.

some cops have the door lights and the centers ones in the middle of the lightbar. but the HIDs on the doors(which is legal on cop cars in Ohio ) is bright as hell. I got hit with one when I got pulled over. I couldn't look in my rearview or outside mirrors. it gave me a headache if i looked in em.

Its an officer safety issue. It has a few functions, 1. They can shoot right through the tints on a car so the officer can see and subvertive motions (hiding drugs, switching drivers etc) and 2.You blind the driver, they dont have time to load their gun and shoot the officer as he walks up.
