I wouldn't buy them. Too many little problems, IMO.

Take a look at some more reliable cars.

Nice cars and Audis do last long, but definitely expect spending much more $ in maintenance and running costs. Things could/might break. What about a 5.5g Maxima?

I'd only consider it if you had the service records. If the oil changes werent done frequently then you might end up with oil sludge.

...older cars have so much mileage on them... unless they are Japanese, then its so expensive to fix them when things go wrong... or they just arent worth looking at, at all...

...whats your price range? and what will you absolutely NOT drive?

I wouldn't buy an A4....It's going to need "things" with that kind of mileage unless they've already been done....electrical issues, timing belt, control arms, cv boots, etc. I would stick to a camry/accord/maxima.

I wouldn't buy an Audi that old or with that many miles... and this is coming from a guy who owned an A4 and currently owns an A6. Differences is they're newer and under warranty.

If you only want to spend $9k I'd look Japanese so you can at least get a reliable used car...

Keep looking. I looked at a couple A4's and 2 of them had the CEL on and one was only at about 30K miles. The only one I test drove felt like crap.

Used Audis are expensive to maintain. Given the modest budget I'd suggest something that is more "appliance-like" and look at a Maxima.
