'Ill probably baby the car till the doors fall off.'
This being the case, why not buy a new car and be done with it?
Just decide which car, options, color and interior. This way you know the complete history of the car from day one, no question and you have exactly what you want.
I vote for either a 535 or A6 but that's just me.

Making car decision is so hard. Here I'm like wanting a new one, then the rapid depreciation rate on new cars strikes me, and then on pre-owned car you'd have to be careful with the purchase cause you dont know if previous owner had taken care of the car, or was the car a lemon law buy back or other issues.
Then comes the part with negotiating with used car salesman, it just makes me so frustrated at this point.

As for negotiating with the dealer, not sure how the salesmen in CT are, but the Audi dealer here was very high end and negotiating the deal was very easy. It's not like you're walking into a Chevy dealer to buy a used Cavalier. Much more professional and courteous... the way a luxury dealer should be.

Getting exactly what you want in your colors and options = priceless.
Makes sense because you will keep it long term and you sound financially conservative otherwise, enjoy the experience.

Congrats. I just ordered a 2011 A4 a week ago for about the same price. Like you, I keep my cars for 6-7 years and take very good care of them, so I don't mind buying new.
