Did you know that the footwells on 70's and 80's porsche 911 targas and cabriolets are smaller then the coupes ?? They need extra re-enforcement so the body (and suspension) don't twist.

I am tempted to get a new S2k soon, as a second car, as mentioned before it won't work as daily driver in the NE. They seem like the practical and affordable roadster, but in the back of my mind I think saving for another year and getting an M3 conv. would make me happier- then again the S2k is so much damn fun to drive............ I've got to stop this before I go get one............. Enjoy the new car!

uhh.. there is a S2000 coupe.. you can get the hardtop option from the factory itself.. or you can get an aftermarket carbon fiber hardtop conversion for the S2000 if youre really scared of adding more weight to an already light car.

I feel the need...
I really like the lotes elise. Less weight is better for handling, and I prefer tossability over straight line acceleration. Which is why I bought the TSX over the TL.
Quite simply, I prefer coupe's - but then again, probably because I live in the cold, dark midwest. If I lived in SoCal - maybe I'd change my mind.

Are you kidding, the Elise doesn't even have an interior. The S2000 is the perfect daily driver roadster. The Elise, while a superior track car, can't claim the same daily driver aspect of the S2000.

Looks good man!! I absolutley love them. I was toying with getting one, but my damn legs are too long and my knees hit the steering wheel.
"Hello, Japan? Yes, can you make your dudes just a little bit taller?? Why, you ask? Because then Honda will make there cars just a little bit bigger and I can fit in them. Thanks!"

my friend used to have an S2000. he took it to an Elise event at Putnam Park and owned all the Elise's... of course he is a very good driver. but, I just think its funny all the Elises got pwnt by this "really heavy" car. sorry I am just tired of the "that car is too heavy" argument given by like all fans/owners of the Elise. I like the car but you won't see me driving one, ever.

trying to get a lil V-I
hey beetroot...
welcome to the club...
One thing I would recommend...take her to the track and learn the limits of the car at a safe environment.
I've spun my S2000 on the streets...no doubt doing something stupid like VTECing in the corner. I've settled down a lot since the first couple months of ownership.
This is definitely not an as forgiving car as the CL-S. DO NOT VTEC in the rain. You will spin.

oh ...and the comments about the Elise vs S2000
Given the same driver and the same abilities, the Elise would be faster due to the natural physics of horspower/weight ratio.
I've also sat in an Elise at Park Place...I don't know who would consider this a daily driver. Ingress and egress takes tons of effort. Not to mention the akwardness of having a passenger sitting "making out" distance from the driver. Those little cockpits are tight.

Damn damn Damn Rootbeer.... I'm uber jealous
I'm gonna get one too.. Like KenTL said in another thread, seems like everyone is thinking about S2k's now, and I know I have been one of them. Never really liked the idea of convertible, but now that I have a DOHC VTEC Engine, I want a more powerful one Besides, the looks have really started to appeal to me more more.

I really doubt the S2K (which I love) would own Lotus left and right. Bad drivers will make the Lotus look bad.

So my first gripe about the s2k... what is the point of a push button starter if you still need to turn the key? I thought there was a chip in the key so once you are in the car with the key in your pocket or whatever, the push button would work... but no, you have to put the key in and turn with one hand, then push the button with the other hand. Is this a theft deterrent for one armed thieves?
I'm not doing something wrong am I? Is this really how it works?

yes, that's how it's suppose to work. It's mostly there for style. Honda wanted this car to be modeled after their Forumla 1 cars, hence the high reving engine, push button start, open cockpit, etc.

Arrived late at this thread, but oh well.
Nice S2000...congrats!! I also have an '02 S2000 and love it more and more every time I drive it. Hopefully your results will be the same.

holy shit, this thing is a beast!!! I'm still learning to drive it I guess because I just really got on it and into second gear I just took off and it was incredible. ahhahahahahahahahha
for anyone thinking about getting one of these, DO IT. no, its not the most practical thing in the world and it might be a pain in the ass once in a while because of the storage, but its worth it. just go get one its sooooo much fun.
