. I had a 2001 Yamaha R1 (also a 1000) and this is much faster. With Ram air, it has about 184 horsepower at the crank; figure 160 to the rear wheel.

I have a ZZR1200....not as wild as the gixxer, but plenty fast, about 140 hp at the tire from what I hear...insurance is only $50.00 a month....can't beat the rush!!

Wow, just got back from a little nighttime ride. I'm still shaking, that thing is just awesome! The brakes could be a little sharper, a pad change should fix that.
I can see the TL will get some light use the rest of this summer.
Cheers,

I tend to spend my mod money on suspension and brakes. It already has more motor than anybody needs. I'll get the forks redone by Lindeman Engineering, a Penske shock, steel brake lines and some aggressive pads and just ride the poo out of it.
Cheers!

Nice bike, but a ball buster... I laid a Ninja down 75 feet on the salty Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach almost 20 years ago.
I now prefer the fat ass Harleys to lay back on and rumble with a fay chick on back to bar to bar at 45 mph!

Any of the new 1000cc bikes are not for beginners. The nice thing is the throttle response if very precise and the powerband does not have any steps that would compromise control.
Running it in a little this weekend I saw 169 MPH on my secret strech of deserted road. I'm getting comfortable on the bike quickly and more miles of enjoyment are in order.
I just wish I didn't have to wake up at 6AM on Sundays to get in my fast running before everyone goes to church/breakfast.
Cheers!

for the front, just a simple fork spring change to .85kg/mm, and 20wt fork oil. for my needs, i won't have much need for a GSXR front end swap, or even emulators.
That's a pretty fast ride... I raced one a month ago. The chick was no beginner on her bike... She never lost me but I never got in front either (would have not expected it either)...
Very nice ride
Very nice ride
I don't mind spending a little coin on a nice fork revalve and a great shock. Plus, if I ever sell the bike, I can put the old shock back on and sell the Penske. I'll wait for winter to upgrade the suspension.
