Pathfinder needs tires....

I need to get a set of tires for my Pathfinder. It's a 2003 4WD. You guys with SUV's have any recommendations? I'm looking for good all season. I live in PA, so we get some snow and ice but not unmanagable. The ones on there now are good, but I think they are discontinues.

The OEM size is 255/65-16. Those are fine.

And NO, I am not putting on a set of 24's on it.

i wish i could remember what was on my QX4.....either bridgestone or Bfgoodrich's.

they hooked up very well in the dry, wet, and was very good in the snow. a little loud but hey they were great tries, both on and off road.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Bridgestone&tireModel=Dueler+A% 2FT+D695&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=465SR7D695OWL& fromCompare1=yes&place=2&speed_rating=S&speed_rati ng=T&speed_rating=U&speed_rating=H&speed_rating=V& speed_rating=Z&speed_rating=W&speed_rating=Y&speed _rating=(Y)&load_rating=S&load_rating=RF&load_rati ng=XL&load_rating=C&load_rating=D&load_rating=E&lo ad_rating=F&load_rating=G&minSpeedRating=S

these are on my fathers tundra....and they hook up real good, great in snow and their sticky.

mrs. dallison has yokohama geolanders on her 4runner and has has decent luck. they were roughtly $450 installed a couple years ago. as long as she has it in 4wd she is fine in the snow. you don't need a snow tire or aggressive tread here. i used to run snows up north and don't need em here on my car

I have BFG all terrain TA k.o.s and i really like them on my expedition. I had them on my Z71 as well. I just put Goodyear triple treads on my fiancees expedition and she likes them They have good traction in snow slush and ice, and ride nice

I had some rough times this winter sir. I actually spun the truck a half turn coming on to the Centerville exit. It was all ice when I did it, but I was in 4WD and I got no traction. I also had some times where I had a traction problem turning.

With that said, I don't think I need something made 100% for snow, but I like having a good all season.

Which Geolanders does she have?

We had a '01 PF and I put two sets of Michellin Cross Terrains on it. We always got good wear from them (50K and 50K plus another 5-10K when we sold it) and it handled very well in the rain and whatever snow we did get. Quiet tire at highway speed and they handled very well on dry roads. These tires are not not cheap....I think that my last set cost 650 from Costco. A good tire though....much better than the Bridgestone crap that came OEM.

michelin ltx. might be the last set of tires that the pathfinder will ever need too. my dad runs them on his truck. they are expensive but they last 80k miles.

General Grabber AT

I run these on my explorer and have never had one problem in the snow. Most of the time I don't even bother with 4wd. They are excellent and look just like the BFGoodrich AT's, and much more affordable

I have Toyo's on it now. Not bad tires. They are a bit loud. The set on the truck are probably the ones it rolled out of the factory with, and for the most part they are not horrible. There is about 70K on them, and if I really wanted to, I can use them for another through the summer.

Those Geolanders are looking pretty good though.

How smooth was the ride on those? They look a bit rough.

Not bad.

I think these tires would have lasted a while more but I have a bad wheel bearing up front and it did a number on one of the tires.

Well the ride is rougher than my car but its a 91 explorer sport, so the ride is going to be rough no matter what tire I put on it. I don't think it would be noticeably rougher than any other tire you would put on your truck. You can read some of the reviews online for the tire and I have never seen one complaint. Plus personally I would rather have a more aggressive tire so that I know I won't have a problem in the winter.

If the need arises I can say these do pretty well in the mud as well

We have the same pathfinder and went with the Kumho Road Ventures, worked
really well this winter, so far they are very quiet, I can't speak about wear since
we have only put about 5k miles on them. Based on the reviews, they seem like a good deal:

Same with mine. If i didnt have reoccurring tierod issues they would have worn better on the front and last longer. I got a little over 80k out of them on my Z71

Luckily I have a very short list of things I need for the truck. It gets new filters and oil tomorrow. Belts, hoses, plugs are all fine. And no real maintainance issues coming up.

Once I get tires, I should be fine for the next year with just oil changes.

Cash is definately an issue, but not as important as safety. My wife and kid drive in that car at times.

I have BFG All Terrain T/A KOs on my 95 pathfinder.

They are without a doubt, THE best tire I have used on any SUV I've driven on the road or off.

Pay attention to SUV tires...they are easily recognized from the tread, and you begin to notice most people have them on their trucks and SUVs...there is a reason for that.

My buddy has a similar pathfinder and has the firestone destinations on them, they seem to work good. We got Yokohama geolander AT's on my wifes Rav4, they are pretty smooth and handle the snow with ease, I'd recommend them, and the price isn't too bad either.

I just put a set of Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S tires on my Suburban. They seem to have good reviews online for truck/SUV applications. Although, they don't have great traction in snow. I don't get that here so it didn't matter to me.
