Panther Lovin' (Not the animal) Crown Vic Thread

If there is already a thread about this, mods please move.

I was looking at replacing my work "beater" a 95 camry with a mid 00's police spec Crown Vic. Does anybody have any experience with these? I know going in that these cars are beat to shit and not well taken care of aesthetically, but they can run forever. I really dont know why I want one all of a sudden. I saw a bright blue one here around town and it was lowered with mustang wheels and a bull bar on the front and the plate said NOT50, it was sweet looking. I usually hate the people that buy cop cars, but I figure if I mod it a little peeps will know Im not a cop. Let me know what you guys think.

Do it! Ex Police Interceptors are a dime a dozen and a built like tanks. Find a detective or Sergeants car, they usually don't have holes drilld into them for mounting light bars and antennas (antennae?).

I've always wanted a Police Interceptor, not to impersonate a cop, but because they're so bad ass. Roush built a few impressive ones. It's got the same 4.6L out of a 99 Mustang Cobra, including the T45 5-speed manual.

I'd make mine black, Cobra wheels, add a supercharger onto the 4.6 and throw in a Tremec 6-speed.

My buddy had one and he loved it. He would always scare the shit out of people because he still had the spot light and radio in it. The thing is built like a tank as stated above.

If I get one I'm not gonna throw too much $$ at it (That is what the TL is for) But I will do wheels exhaust and it has GOT to have the bull bar for those unsuspecting perps I'm excited, going to look at them right now. I would like to find a Cobalt?? blue or a burgundy one. I would name her Victoria Burgundy

Some good info here: https://acurazine.com/forums/car-talk-5/would-you-buy-new-york-state-trooper-pursuit-car-834610/

Focuses on NY cars, but still generic enough to be helpful...

Try to pickup a 2004. Had some advances not seen in other years. Better engine better heads, different ECU programming.
A friend of mine has a marauder. He beats the piss out of it & it's only needed brakes, belt, & tires so far with 60K on it.

Already have one, want something a little more fun that I can beat on and drive to work. I would be getting a CV to replace the Camry I use as a work vehicle now.

Well I finally pulled the trigger and bought one.

http://www.chicagomotors.com/Invento...nventoryId=738

Should be here next week or so. As soon as its off the truck it is getting flowmaster super 44's and new tips, tints, new head unit/speakers, and snow tires. It appears to be in good shape (Yes I bought it sight unseen), but it was still a couple of grand cheaper than the ones here in town that weren't completely beat to shit. I will post pics of it when I get it and hopefully do a progress thread on it. I was gonna go the cop car route with the bull bar and spotlight etc, but I think I want to do it up Marauder style.

I just did a wire transfer from my bank to their bank. They faxed me the bill of sale, I signed it and faxed it back. It was and still seems sketchy to me but they seem legit. This was my first time doing such a thing. The cost to drive/fly/train up there were more expensive than just shipping it here ($400) My luck, instead of getting the crown vic delivered, I will get a 03 Mitsubishi Lancer or some shit like that LOL.

Nice! Looks really clean

Definitely go the Marauder route. A set of chrome or black Bullit wheels would look awesome.

From the pics, it does look clean. Hopefully it pans out. At least it's already got most of the chrome bits blacked out.

One day while you're on the freeway - in the far left lane doing 55 - if you see this car (https://acurazine.com/forums/members/steven-bell-234660-albums-2007-asm-acura-tl-type-s-1495/) pass you, pull into his lane, run him down and get right up on his ass for a few miles.

Post back here for lulz.

Gotcha, I wouldn't be able to buy a car like that, but good luck! Seems like a solid dealer, got great reviews on various sites. You should be good

I was thinking of the 06-09? 18" mustang gt wheels (fanblades are what the kids are calling them these days), or the 10-current 18 inch wheels that come on the gt's. There is a set of the later on CL, brand new take offs for $900.

Looks nice man, good price for a good car. I've always had this weird inclination towards Crown Vics. The Roush modded version that SACHO posted up helps with that as well.
