The Mrs. and I agreed that once her 2001 Infiniti I30t was paid off and it hit 100k miles, we'd sell it and get her something new. Well, we finally got an acceptable offer and sold it.
It served her very well in the 50k miles she had it.
OLD:

She will be missed...
So, since wifey has always had Infiniti's with fantastic luck on all of them, we stayed in the family.
NEW(er):

2005 FX35, 40k miles w/ Sport and Tech packages.
It will be nice to have finally have AWD in the MN winters!
We plan to keep it 4 years, when it will probably be close to 100k miles again, then hopefully trade up again.
We can only hope this Infiniti will bring us the same problem-free ownership as the last two!

My CL has recently gone through all it's 100K mile replacements and fixes and it running like a top again, so I think I might just keep it and get an S2000 next summer. But that leaves us with three cars for only a two-car garage.I'm also considering trading it in for a 4-seater hardtop conv. next summer, but it doesn't appear that I'll be able to afford anything I want. So the CL-S/S2K combo might be more viable.
I'd LOVE to get into a G37, but I can't afford it at the moment and a few close friends already beat me to the punch.

you know that the G37x coupe is coming right, perfect for snow.. also, the G37x sedan is coming too.
). So, even though I LOVE them, I need something a little different...
Glad to hear your G is working out for you, I LOVE that car!
Wow I don't think I've ever seen that blue before. Looks awesome! I'm sure the exhaust note is quite a step up from the I30. AWD will definitely suite your needs in MN that's for sure. Good luck with it!
If the shape of the FX wasn't as..err..egg like, it would have won out....The FX interior and gadgets are way above the RX...

Thanks all for the kind words!
That is the same car that I want to get for my wife, and like you I'll be keeping my CL because it runs flawlessly. What's even more uncanny is that I won't be getting the G37 for the exact same reasons you mentioned (finances and 2 friends with them). I'm thinking Audi A5 in 2011 (or 2010).
Anyway, awesome choice, enjoy

I think they'll grow on you. Did you actually like the FX when it first came out? I thought it was one of the ugliest vehicles on the road at the time. Now I just shake my head when I see one because I like them so much.
It's different, and I like that. It also looks very masculine and it has lots of power. I read that it is better than the X5 in many ways also. Now that I think of it, I'm seeing more of them on the roads now. Maybe I'm just noticing them more, or maybe it's because of the automobile market right now.

Congratulations for your new Infiniti!
The FX is a fantastic looking thing and I've always wanted one. Every time one pulls up next to me, I pull my windows down to listen to it. Again, congratulations and try to let her drive it sometimes.

Model for model, the new FX actually looks cheaper IMO. Atleast its not as bad as the EX...Infiniti needs to just count its losses and hault production on those things.
nice car... watch out for the blind spots in it though. my roomate had a g35 coupe and had an fx one day as a loaner when he was getting his oil changed. i swear the two cars have the exact same blind spots.
haha, no problem.
I know how it goes. The dealer I got it from picked it up in a WI auction for $23,500. I paid only slightly more than that. It VBB's at $27,800 locally.
It's pretty hard to beat that, even with your secret-handshake license.

I actually did look into leasing an 08 for about a second, but really, two main reasons why we bought:
1) Lease is ~$440/mos. for one that is comparably optioned. We're paying nowhere near that for our finance payments with the $5k we put down.
2) At the end of our 4 years of ownership, we can sell the FX for $12-$15k (especially in this winter market). That $$ goes right in our pocket.
At the end of a 3 year lease, we'd probably owe money for mileage overages, etc.
...at least that was my reasoning.
