Opinions Needed...

Hello, I'm thinking about purchasing another car..

2007 Honda Civic SI Sedan

05-07 Subaru STI

If any of you out there had one of these cars and would like to input on the good and the bad of them, that would be great, if not, just vote on which would you take?

Thanks for looking guys and girls...

-Henry

I'd be looking for performance, so I'd go with the Subie.

Out of the two you posted, I would say Si. I like the interior much more than the STI has to offer.

I'd pick the Sti. Seems like more fun.

What is your goal? What is the primary purpose of this car? What is your driving record like in regards to insurance?

Are you going to be using it as a platform for performance? I'd get the STi and build it. Personally I'd buy an evo instead but.. yea I'd rather have a modded STi than a civic.

I mean of all the things to compare these 2 cars to, you would pick the Civic over the STi because you think the interior is better? I mean sure, the blue interior isn't quite my cup of tea either but come on. AWD 300 HP vs. 200 HP front wheel drive econobox...really?? Besides being Japanese 4 cylinder cars they have NOTHING in common.

I would pick the civic because I'm a honda guy myself but the sti offers a lot more performance options. Insurance costs will be higher with the sti though.

I might be wrong, but I think there is a difference in price, and as someone else mentioned, insurance rates.

There definitely is, were talking about apples and oranges here. A WRX would be a better comparision.

Just to throw in another consideration, you might want to send an e-mail to your insurance agent and ask for an estimate. I don't know about an Si, but I was considering a WRX and asked for a quote. Yow. (Although the quote on a Legacy GT was in the TSX/328i/G35 range).

These choices are for completely different cars, about the most they have in common is country of origin and four wheels.

OP, it depends on what you want. IMO both these cars are 4-door sports cars, but at two extremes. The Si isn't a whole lot different from the base Civic. The STi however, is much different from a base Impreza.

Assuming you're keeping your TL-S, I'm going to guess you want this car to be one of two things:

A lighter, more economical car that's still relatively fun and sporty
A lighter car that's more performance-oriented and "hardcore".

You can guess which cars fall into which category.

When you're driving on the street, a giant wing and gold wheels are exactly what you don't want, and 300 horsepower and AWD don't really help a whole lot.

When you drive a car, you spend all your time in the interior anyways, so I think it's a pretty big point.
