Oil Questions
Is it true that its bad for your car to switch from conventional oil to synthetic? Cuz I usually get oil change at the dealer, and im guessing they use conventional... Today i asked my dad to go get my oil changed to jiffy lube and he told me he put synthetic in it...
The second question: How many miles can i go with the conventional oil they put at the dealer? ps: I love how vtec sounds so i kinda hard on the gas

1st I change the oil myself, if by chance I don't I NEVER take it to a place like Jiffy Lube, no way. I was going to switch to synthetic, but everyone I talk to mechanics included say it is bad for the engine unless you have 50-60,000+ miles on the car(mine only has 12,000). And reg oil needs to be changed every 3,000 miles.

I change mine every 3,000 at the dealer, and I don't use synthetic. My Integra ran perfectly at 155k, and I never put synthetic in it either.

I thought the dealer only used synthetic on our cars. When I bought my car I got a deal that all my oil changes would be free forever. I've heard that synthetic is good and bad at the same time. Good meaning you can go longer without changing the oil, Better lubrication, doesn't get as hot. Bad it's exspensive, and you can't just switch back to regular oil after a while. But i guess i let the dealer decide on what kindof oil to put in my car
