Probably a local shop, but the only thing is, their name is on the inspection sticker, so they could get in trouble if you get pulled for the tint, although it is unlikely. I got a warranty on my tint saying they would take it off for inspection and put it back on afterwards.

Good luck with that. They're really tough with that now. I just bite the bullet and remove the front tints. If you find a place, let me know.

I was in the same boat recently, and all the places I went to just said they couldn't help me. One place wanted $70 for inspection plus $1.50 for the sticker IF you pass What a rip. I just had them stripped and put them back on after it was inspected.

I think Birch Tire in rockaway is worth asking...

also as a general question to all in NJ, have any of you had any problems with getting pulled over? I'm considering doing 20% all around (minus the windshield of course), or splitting up 20% on sides and back - 35% on fronts, that'll be a last minute decision...Samm Sound in bloomfield quoted me $190, and i haven't been able to find anyplace else local that'll tint.

so i guess is this really worth doing?

I got pulled over once in 8 years of having a tinted car. The cop was being a dick. And it was out in East Bumble. I think you should be fine getting them done. I have to take them off in a couple months to get it past inspection and then I plan on putting them back on.

Tropic Window Tinting
1449 Stuyvesant Ave
Union, NJ 07083
(908) 688-8705
www.tropictint.com

They did mine and it came out perfect. They are one of the best around. They deal with a lot of high end exotic cars. They are a bit more expensive than most, but I would highly reccommend them.

And both my brother and his friend have had tint on their cars for years and have never had problems. In the short time I've been drving I haven't gotten pulled over for it. In fact, even when the cops saw the tint when they had to come do an accident report(nothing major), they didn't say anything.

That's where I got mine tinted too a few years ago. I have to agree that they are one of the best out there. No problems and still look like it's brand new.

I am going to ask around for a few more places. If I can't then I guess I have to bite the bullet and get it removed.

I have not had issues with 35% all around like other people in my town have. I would suggest going the same all around, whether it be 20% or 35%. If you do not want to get pulled over or want to worry about it, I'd go with 5% in the back and nothing on the sides.
