Putting the "M" package on that POS was the subject of a "Top Gear" review where Clarkson deemed it the stupidest thing in the automotive world to occur. I agree.

I'll preface my response by stating I'm no fan of the X6M. I think it's silly.

That being said, the X6M had a tq. rating of 500 lb-ft. I don't care how many fast cars someone's been in, that's A LOT of torque.

Also, the review Clarkson did was of a regular X6 with the M-Sport package on it, not the X6M. The M-Sport package included a slightly stiffer suspension along with some interior and exterior styling bits. The X6M was completely tuned by the M division. Those are two very different vehicles.

 

I actually saw a BMW X6 during our snowstorm here in Toronto. We were both on a very slight incline. The X6 could hardly get up this "hill"...if you can call it that, while my 1999 TL got up fine...

If BMW was able to sell this trash can of a car...then BMW could sell freezers to a Eskimo with their kind of marketing.

 

Driver, type & condition of tires and road conditions are all variables of how well a vehicle performs in conditions like that.
