If you haven't seen this yet, then its a def WTF situation... I realize its not an interesting car or anything, but this is a Univ of Iowa backup Center who is riding a scooter and gets hit head-on by a pickup truck. Its hard to see the contrast, but you'll notice his shoe come falling from the sky. Dude frickin stands up after getting hit and starts walking around. Walked out of the hospital a few hours later after being evaluated.

And I can't believe that guy in the F150 didn't see the scooter coming at him. I'm glad the guy walked away.

 

I can believe it, easily. Especially because it looks like the sun was setting and the driver of the truck was being somewhat blinded by the sun.

Even without the sun setting, I could see it happening and would not be suprised. People don't acknowledge or realize bikes, they see it, but it sometimes just doesnt click. In fact, today I was driving to school, pulling out at a T intersection, in front of me was an SUV w/an older female driver. She begins to pull out and then slams on her brakes just before a motorcyclist comes driving by.

Couldve easily hit him, but saw him at the last second.

 

Most car on bike accidents are because the cager "never saw him/her".

And a car making a left turn in front of a bike is probably the most common.

 

So.. was his coach behind the wheel? Surprise Truck Attack?

Thats something im always afraid of when riding, some cager saying they didnt see me comming. Cant really be mad at them though, most people arent looking for bikes there looking for other cars. Still a reason to be extra catious when getting through and intersection

 

While vacationing in Maui, I found many vehicles like this one on the side of HWY 30. This Chevy was left here to die (stripped, burned twice) because it costs so much to get it off the island. Those lights look like retro'd Accord lights, and they were done pretty well aside from the halos and the LEDs on the bottom.

I think it would actually be pretty nice had they not put on the Audi grille.
