I would rather put that money toward a new top.

:ponder:

Oh Sickest TL 11-22-2016 04:11 PM

is it really that hard to rip the old top off and install a new one??

TacoBello 11-22-2016 04:23 PM

It is a very time consuming endeavour, I've heard.

Yes. Well I wouldn't say it's hard but very time consuming and tedious. I haven't done it but looking at the DIY's for replacing...I basically just said fuck it, I'll outsource this.

Oh Sickest TL 11-22-2016 04:56 PM

^ wow good to know

KaMLuNg 11-22-2016 05:52 PM

on the spyder, the oem tops are vinyl... when i replaced mine, i went with aftermarket cloth... so much nicer...

thoiboi 11-22-2016 05:57 PM

rockstar143 11-22-2016 06:17 PM

Well, if anyone is interested, I'll start by saying I don't think shipping is crazy and I pad $1400 for it including import tax...
it was basically discontinued and I snagged one of the last ones. Had to get in touch with this British company for it and convince them
to sell to me (sent pics of my bad teeth and a video of me doing the Gettysburg address in my best Queen's English).

Oh Sickest TL 11-22-2016 06:18 PM

them fuckers do have disgusting teeth huh

The Gettysburg Address was during the Civil War, long after the British had control of us..

"Maybe if we send this bloody exhaust to him, the bloody bloke will stop pestering us with his atrocious ahh-cent".. :tomato:

Oh Sickest TL 11-22-2016 06:38 PM

dwb993 11-22-2016 07:04 PM

I just replaced my top with Robbins cloth. Very happy. Had a semi local S2K top expert do the install.

GLWS, J. I would consider it, but have to let my pockets fill back up before any other big ticket purchases.

thoiboi 11-22-2016 07:08 PM

with a glass rear windshield?! :wish:

thoiboi 11-22-2016 07:14 PM

Two people, DIY, doesn't look like TOO tough of a job...

plus 8 hours
and patience
no thanks.

Oh Sickest TL 11-22-2016 08:47 PM

that looks like something i would never want to do ever

TacoBello 11-22-2016 10:30 PM

Fuck that, I'd just duct tape the entire roof. An s2000 with a silver striped roof would look gangster.

dwb993 11-23-2016 06:17 AM

Yes...glass window. Guy knew what he was doing. Took just under 4 hours.

rockstar143 11-23-2016 06:38 AM

4 hours!?!!?
FUCKKKKK

I wish...I know it'll take me a while.
As you may remember, I actually installed a soft top on the silver S...but frame included so I know my way around the interior. It's annoying and tedious but doable.
I think the riveting and how things go together is the most intimidating part for me.

I forget where I said to order from and call to get free shipping, Dave?!

And thanks, man...I'm in no rush to sell it...if it's still around when you're ready, let me know.

dwb993 11-23-2016 03:15 PM

Topsonline.com Mention s2ki and get free shipping.

rockstar143 11-23-2016 08:20 PM

That's what I recalled, thanks Dave.
If I didn't have a garage or a 2nd vehicle, I probably wouldn't consider it.

Had a blast doing the twisties yesterday. Not once did the car skip a beat. Ended up losing my passenger side strake but it was worth it. I always buy something for the car when she performs nicely so I had it in mind to spend money already.

Jdrum1 11-27-2016 08:05 AM

Where were you?

cu2wagon 11-27-2016 09:29 AM

The 1800s by the looks of that last picture!

Looks fun. I need to head out that way.

rockstar143 11-27-2016 09:31 AM

Thanks man. it sure was :) The GF woke up this am and joked about doing it again before we head home

rockstar143 11-27-2016 11:55 AM

Funny because the look on her face did not say "let's do this again", to me.

SamDoe1 11-28-2016 11:27 AM

I wish I could drive mine... :(

CLtotheTL32 11-29-2016 06:19 PM

If you guys want some S2000 inspiration, this was a really great read.

^read that. Our local Houston group made a trip to the Dragon last month. I'm planning on going with them next year

rockstar143 11-29-2016 07:28 PM

I did
:tomato:

rockstar143 11-29-2016 07:28 PM

Dennis, funny enough but I accidentally did a nice part of the blue ridge parkway on my drive back from Ohio with the TL-S in February.
