Evil Mazda Driver
The stations around here are having a bit of knee-jerk reaction to the winter storm we had which is keeping gas trucks from getting to the stations. We went from $1.59ish to $1.75 almost overnight.
Still...not complaining.

So it's been quite a while since some gas prices were last posted so thought I'd enliven it again...
Regular here is $1.79; premium is around $2.10; I've been trying out mid grade for about $1.94 lately and find that my mileage and performance are just about the same

Crude oil is getting cheaper _ so why isn't gas?
NEW YORK — Crude oil prices have fallen to new lows for this year. So you'd think gas prices would sink right along with them.
Not so.
On Thursday, for example, crude oil closed just under $34 a barrel, its lowest point for 2009. But the national average price of a gallon of gas rose to $1.95 on the same day, its peak for the year. On Friday gas went a penny higher.
To drivers once again grimacing as they tank up, it sounds like a conspiracy. But it has more to do with an energy market turned upside-down that has left gas cut off from its usual economic moorings.....

I honestly don't mind at all. 12 cents is maybe what, 1 or 2 dollars more per fillup. That's nothing. What I do mind is how utterly incompetent the politicians are at handling tax money.... instead of trying to introduce stupid gun laws and crap like that, they need to use the money smarter and that way we won't need silly tax raises like this.

It amounts to $120 a year in ADDITIONAL gas taxes.....if you enjoy throwing your money down the rat-hole of Sacramento....go ahead.
(20 gal tank...4 fill-ups a month.)

Its 1-2 dollars a fillup, period unless you drive a large truck or SUV. Getting food to go once or two a month is as much as that, end of story. Its nothing.
People freak out when gas goes up by .10..... OMG OMG !!! and they stress out over nothing and spend half an hour trying to find out which gas station has the cheapest gas just to save a buck, literally. Then they try thing likes putting 87 in their Lexuses to make up for it.... Its silly and something that cannot be avoided..... this 12 cent raise can be avoided, but still.... they're saying if it doesn't go into action, then won't a LOT of people get laid off? I forgot what the number was, but it was either hundreds or thousands in the state alone.
Like I said, they need to find ways to better appropriate the money. And this is why I think this thread is ridiculous, along with all the other "will 87 hurt my car?" threads

^^ It's $120 a year. It adds up.
Never look at the monthly payments of things. Look at the grand total over time.
12 cents looks "nicer" than $120...but the truth is it's $120.
The budget increase in taxes will be 2 years for sure...and as long as 5 years.
So your grand total is $240 for two years or $600 for 5 years.
Increasing taxes during a recession is a very bad move.

i think a big part of the frustration is its constantly fluctuating. it seems as if the people in power of the petroleum industry have an evil sense of humor.

But I established my own credit, with my own credit card, which gets paid by me and ME only. That is in part why I had a 730+ credit rating at the time which I got my loan for my car. Thank you very much for speculating anyway and showing how wrong you were.
My family isn't as well-off as some others, but I've worked fucking hard for every damn thing I have, so whether you say "no offense" or not, I have been very offended. I don't ask my parents for a damn thing.... they've already done more than they needed to in the 18 years of my life, and since then I've been trying to return the favor. I'm not one of those clueless fuckheads who ask for a new 5-series when they're 16, thank you very much.

You don't know a God damn thing about me, I would appreciate it if you didn't assume shit like that about someone you've never even met. It would be safe to say what you did if my sig listed I drove a new M3 or something like that, but you're wrong. I live under the same roof as my mom but that doesn't mean she pays for anything for me, aside from my car which I will admit, of which I am paying back to her to the last cent. And the ONLY reason she paid for my car is because she thought it was silly for me to pay interest every month. I swallowed my pride and agreed, but ever since I turned 18 she hasn't put a single cent towards my phone bill, my car insurance, or any of my other purchases. Whatever she gets me, I don't ask for it, BUT I appreciate everything very much. I put the down payment on my car, I made ALL the payments and then some on the first year, and I paid for all the insurance.

Since you claim to be so mature and independent, you should know better then to say something like "who cares if gas goes up 12 cents." Maybe it doesn't affect you much, but what about those people that drive 500 miles a week, or truckers who get less take home pay because more of their pay goes towards gas. I personally don't drive much but if i had to commute an hour to work each way like i used to, i'd be pretty annoyed if gas went up 10-12 cents.

Otherwise I stand firm by my belief that almost everyone who complains about gas prices is overreacting. And in this thread I don't see any truckers or heavy commuters bitching... if you are then I'm sorry but I could care less. Like I always say.... if you don't like how much gas costs, find an alternative source of transportation, move, or find another, closer job. If you have a once-in-a-lifetime job offer in another state, you're not going to fly there every day now are you?
You all seem to miss the point. This instance aside (even then, the tax increase seems to be the lesser of 2 evils) you can't do a damn thing about the gas prices..... so either stop whining or actually do something about it.

Gas prices are up since gasoline supply is unpredicable in the winter months... Lots of the refineries are down for maintenance...

Refinery Maintenance
Companies often shut refinery units for maintenance in January and February as attention shifts away from heating oil and before gasoline use rises.
“Refineries are using this low-demand period to perform overdue maintenance,” Armstrong said. “They put off maintenance the last two years because prices were high and they wanted to maximize output. In the long run, this will be good for the industry.”

I filled up about 5 days ago. Paid 2.65 (premium) if I remember correctly.
It felt so good not to long ago when Premium had gone down to just above $2.
I'm just it doesn't go to what it was before.
At the peak, I paid $70 to fill up just my TSX. Wtf.
I'm just glad I don't drive me dad diesel 2500 Ram anymore. He got up to $135 at the peak of gas prices last year.

NEW YORK (AP) - Oil prices on Thursday set a new high for the year, buoyed by a weaker dollar, the first drop in unemployment numbers since January, and renewed expectations that crude will extend its rally this year.
Benchmark crude for July delivery was up $3.35 to $69.47 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Oil climbed as high as $69.56 earlier in the day.

Wife just paid about $2.50 for premium in SC. It was nice when premium was $1.89. Seems like sooo long ago.
Worst part... prices will just keep rising. Just in time for summer when people want to go out and spend money, but now they'll stay home b/c gas is ridiculous. Sucks for the recession...

gas futures for july(not sure if it is for the beginning or end of july) were around 1.92 a gallon. So add your states tax and the prices will rise about 10 cents a gallon or so by next month

Prices always go up in the summer fellas. Don't expect any relief until at least September. Good news is the recession should keep oil well short of the bananas price it was last year.....

At the military base here, it's $2.47 a gallon for 93 Octane. No other is sold on base.
Off base at Eneos or Esso, they are getting 135 yen/litre. That equates to $5.23 a gallon.
