Cool The Official Boats Discussion Thread

Oooo...purdy.

From Seriouswheels...

This new yacht, largely inspired by the Audi R8, is the first production yacht to incorporate automotive design. There is a character line on the side of the hull, a side balcony where you can pick the color and material similar to the side blade on the R8, and many other details. The fly bridge even has a removable steering wheel and is reminiscent of a Formula One car.

Press release...

Nearly two years after the introduction of its highly successful LSX Seventy Five, Lazzara Yachts is announcing its plans for the completely redesigned follow-up, the LSX Ninety Two, scheduled to launch Fall 2008.

The award-winning Lazzara product-development team didn’t just want to build a bigger LSX 75, they wanted to reinvent it.

“The LSX Ninety Two is the big sibling of the Seventy Five,” admits Dick Lazzara, the President and cofounder of Lazzara Yachts. However, he ensures, “she is, without reservation, a totally different yacht; one that will explore and achieve new dimensions of functionality, comfort and performance.”
The Lazzara design team added all-new features to make the LSX 92 stand apart from the rest, including bold new styling, an expansive flybridge, a private water-level terrace off the master stateroom, a retractable aft sun deck shade, a more spacious floor plan than most yachts of its size, and Quad Volvo Penta Quad IPS II drive units. One of the most unique features of the 92 is the generous aft section that includes a large teak swim platform with a garage for toys that converts into a shaded area suitable for entertaining.

Lazzara’s 92 features three staterooms plus a master, and crew quarters for two with an optional third bed. The layout also includes Lazzara’s trademark atrium galley. Additionally, those who purchase the yacht will have choices of Lazzara’s signature woodwork in new, contemporary veneers and finishes.

The cutting-edge 75 was launched in October 2006, and with all-new Volvo IPS drives, joystick control and a sleek and elegant design, it immediately became highly acclaimed and widely published. The legacy of innovation through cutting edge rapid prototype technologies won the LSX 75 design team several awards, including the most innovative yacht in its class by Yachts International at the 2007 Cannes International Boat Show.

Wow, that's beautiful!

I saw a Pershing Yacht in Miami, and it was beautiful. My picture sucked, here's a better one:

Pffft...you drive a boat and I let you post in here.

Yeah...and I won't usually post boats but if it has car inspirations (and this does with the R8), I'll post it.

No....that just looks like a "portal" or something people can use to jump in the water. Like for scuba and stuff?? Maybe.

Its no Wallypower, but its pretty bad ass! I enjoy looking at Yachts but could never think of dropping my money on one, they cost way too much to operate, it makes racing a car look cheap. I was in a big yacht phase for a while and have always been a fan of sleek look of Lazzara's they are what I think of when I picture a modest size yacht.

Don't yachts typically cost 8-10% of the original purchase price per year to maintain???

nah, check out the floorplans, its an oversized bathtub / jacuzzi.

also, the master bathroom layout does carry over correctly from the general floorplan to the night rendering. me thinks the "portal door" may be an add-on??

Tired here. It was poorly worded.

I meant that there is no watercraft/boat that looks better. Like saying a x car is the best looking car on the road.

which is why it seems ridiculous to me. Not to mention the value of yachts is more dependent on the condition of the economy then the condition of the yacht. And I tend to be a private person, I don't like having staff around; I'd much rather have a smaller boat, something that I could manage myself, not have the huge risk/cost associated with the big ones and I would not be relying on others to use it.

Actually those lights can come into great use. If the owners or the ones traveling on the boats are avid scuba divers, night time dives are soooooo much different then daytime dives. First off, you have a completely different group of fish that come around at night, and also if you are in an area of lots of coral, the coral that is hard during the daytime will have the polyps come out at night....its incredible. I would definitely use them if I had the money to buy the boat in the first place. lol

Ferrari Speed Boat

Ferrari speedrecord... on the water!
This Month, Eugenio Molinari established two new world water speed records on Lake Como, navigating a boat, fitted with an engine of a Ferrari F430. The two records were set in the categories Endurance Group B class S1 and S2, which are dedicated to Granturismo boats with a minimum weight (including commander and fuel) of 1100 kg (2424 lb) and 1450 kg (3196 lb) with an average speed of 123,288 km/h (76.6 mph) and 122,035 km/h (75.8 mph) on the running kilometer.

Boat and engine derive from serial production, while the engine has been slightly altered so that it could be used on water. This is not the first time that shipmasters have used engines from Ferrari for competitions and high performances. Already in the year 1953 a boat had been fitted with an engine from Ferrari, a 375 F1. Today's record-setting boat will be part of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of Ferrari at the upcoming weekend in Maranello.

"I dedicate this record to Luca di Montezemolo, on the occasion of the 60 years of Ferrari; Montezemolo leads the company with passion and great innovative energy, maintaining the spirit of the Prancing Horse," said 71-year-old Eugenio Molinari after setting his 71st record.

The mid-mounted engine, a V8 90 degrees with 4308 cc and 490 bhp at 8,500 rpm, propels the Berlinetta from Maranello. Its maximum torque is 343 lb-ft at 5,250 rpm. For the employment off shore the engine had been modified in the areas of its respiration, exhaust and control. The cooling system remained unchanged, while the radiator paraflu/air had been changed to a heat exchanger paraflu/acqua. The cooling circuit of the latter uses a pump external to the engine, moved by the specific transmission of the boat, which pumps cooling water to the heat exchanger and the exhausts of the engine.

The Z06 Corvette Speed Boat

(Merced, CA) - Corvette has remained an icon after 54 years. Uniquely American, it's a symbol of independence, exuberance and driving pleasure. The Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V symbolizes all of these things and bares more than a resemblance to its legendary landlocked brother. It displays strikingly precise styling cues. From the signature Corvette "Cove" tooled into the hull to the authentic Corvette emblems to the power wing windshield to the rear taillight design used for through-hull ventilation down to the authentic Corvette rims on the custom Corvette trailer.

The Cove. No longer just a place on the lake where you hang out in your boat, the Corvette "Cove" is the at-a-glance characteristic that makes the Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V unmistakable. Taken from the C6 design, the cove is uniquely Corvette whether showcased on land or water.

Windows that roll. Malibu engineers paid homage to the thrill of the open road by incorporating windows that roll down into the power wing windshield.

What's under the hood? The Corvette-styled closed bow becomes impressively functional as the bow hood opens to reveal LED lighting, a dual subwoofer high powered stereo system and specific storage centers.

Corvette, even on the inside. The moment you take your place in the authentic Corvette driver's seat, you will be at command central of the Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V .Everything is at your fingertips, from the keyless start with security code activation to the Malibu in-dash LCD and two banks of multiplexed switches with built-in LCD screens. The servo-driven Medallion gauges peek out from the low-brow dash and can be dimmed to three different brightness settings. The feeling of fingertip control is as immediate as you put your hands on the sure-grip performance steering wheel.

Whether you are in the authentic Corvette driver's seat, the passenger's seat or the console-split rear lounge, you will feel the comfort of the plush, 38-ounce Duraguard vinyl seamed with French stitching. Anodized aluminum cup holders, carbon fiber accents, theater-style LED interior lighting are standards that enhance the luxury of this extraordinary boat. The 8-speaker Malibu-Rockford Fosgate Stereo System enables you to create the ultimate, heart pounding, Corvette experience.

Same heart, same soul. To maintain the legendary Corvette performance and renowned speed the Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V is available in both Z06 and Coupe packages. The Z06 delivers the same power as the car with 505 horse power and 470 lb.-ft. of torque from the exclusive LS7 Corvette engine. The powerful 400 horsepower Hammerhead 383 engine makes its home in the Coupe.

Malibu engineers understand that the heart and soul of any Corvette, land or water, is the engine. With a nod to its importance, they have incorporated a clear, Lexan door designed to showcase the LS7 engine, visible when you open the Corvette Z06 boat's rear storage hatches. Twenty-four bright red LEDs showcase this powerful performer.

What does GM say? When asked about the new Corvette boat from Malibu Gene Reamer, Director of Trademark and licensing for General Motors, had this to say. "Once again Malibu Boats did an excellent job capturing Corvette styling cues and introducing innovative features, which is consistent with Corvette the sports car." A big smile came over his face and he added, ".they made this boat go really fast, too!"

Complete with custom trailer. No Corvette boat would be complete without a perfectly matched trailer. Malibu engineers have designed this exclusive tandem axel trailer to incorporate all the special details that say Corvette including official Corvette or Z06 wheels, depending on the model. The trailer is just another flawless rendition of Corvette design elements that shows off this very special boat as only Malibu could.

The Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V Boat's unmatched style, unbridled power, precise technology, global awareness and aggressive modern muscle will certainly make its owners proud and continue its legendary status on the water. The Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V will be sold in limited production through authorized, participating Malibu Boats dealerships throughout North America.

Official Badass Boats Thread

Porsche Design and Miami-based boat maker Fearless have teamed up to build a yacht that makes a 911 look like a tonka truck. And, it's a lot prettier than the other superboat we've been gawking at. The $300K fiberglass-hulled boat is 28-feet long, and powered strangely enough by a 525-hp Dodge Viper engine. (What, no 911 Turbo powerplant?)

The boat maker already has several models in the works, with the longest reaching 150 feet. While details are slim, we've included the next two boats in the gallery.
