Obese drivers with performance mods?

My friend and I saw a post on this today and I thought I would make for a good thread here

Hopefully no offense is taken and this is all in good fun as I am sure we can all make fun of ourselves once and awhile. All these weight loss threads and performance has made me think of obese people driving around in their car who lets say are 50 or more pounds overweight and are also buying performance mods to increase the power of their car (exhaust, intake, tune). Aside from improving sound of course.

I wonder if any fat folks thought about a double benefit to dropping 40-50 pounds, you could pick up 6-7 hp equivelents with dropped weight!

lol . This is not meant as a shot at anybody. For i am a big guy that can afford to lose a couple of pounds myself.

But i mentioned that in another thread that i notice especially in the bronx that there is usually but not all the time , a big ass dude driving a civic or bmw 1 & 3 series . Some so big they have no choice but to have one arm out the window and other crushing their passenger .

What should 'they' be driving?

If only people shaved their heads, wore contacts instead of glasses, went shirtless and wore flip flops instead of heavy boots and shoes, didn't carry a wallet, cellphone or other passengers, they too could shave a few pounds off the weight the car carries.

I'm not obese, I'm just pleasantly chunky.

I just tossed out the car's spare tire to compensate for the spare tire I carry, so no additional horsepower needed.

Rather than loose weight for a better 0-60 time or 1/4 mile time they should loose weight to better their lives and be healthy and not have to worry about high blood pressure, heart conditions, etc.

Not for nothing, I've observed more than my share of racers at the track who would have benefited as much from a Jenny Craig mod as they would have going forced induction.

.....just saying....

Uhhhhh, wouldn't the over-weight guys be the ones that needed modifications for a bit more power?

Your premise is false.

An old drag racer adage is that 100 pounds is approximately 10 horsepower. It may surprise many, but some of today's performance cars now weigh more than some of the old performance, all steel behemoths of yesteryear. ABS, airbags, cameras, power seats, electronics, and a host of other comforts and features have made the modern automobile rather porky.

ive thought about this many times when ppl do small weight saving mods - there is still the possibility that they could break even in a drag race with a man of smaller stature driving the same car

I thought about it when I had my motorcycle. I lost 50lbs, and kept the bike stock.

I'm fat. Wouldn't say that I am obese.

IMO if someone is considering dropping weight just to gain equivalent HP in their car then they have bigger issues. I would like to drop a couple lbs so I can probably be around a bit longer to see flying cars.

To be honest the thread doesn't really offend me. It's a valid question but maybe not for Car Talk.

The human head weighs eight pounds.

That's about the same amount the OP needs to gain, coincidentally.
