This pretty much answers the question.

I got to the auction, saw a blue 2002 sitting in line, grabbed it and drove across the auction to the test track. My face was lit with joy and when I parked it I was pretty disappointed. It's not a fast car. I think it's got the exotic look and feel to it but when I got in and pressed on the gas, it was "eh".

Ditto. Great car to drive, handled like no other, just was lacking and left me wanting more. Another 80-100hp would be great

Gotcha - I've heard that from others, but was curious. I'd love to get one, but think I would spring for the CT supercharger and some other mods. I bet that thing would haul after those upgrades, but I guess what car wouldn't after a SC upgrade.

90s jap exotics are hanging on by a thin thread. (NSX, 3000GT, Supra, ZX).

Personally, i have lost most respect for GT, Supra, and ZX and wish they would finally leave the scene.

however, the NSX platform will always have a place in my heart, along with all 90s acuras - legend, legend coupe, vigor, etc. it really brings a tear to my eye to see the direction acura has taken since.

for some reason, there is a certain class and driving style to the NSX that is irreplacable. most importantly, the NSX has a high used price barrier...so its image has not been tarnished by certain distasteful owners. the NSX identity has been preserved, unlike many horridly customized legends you see on the road.

Yea, I'll give you that. If it was between the NSX or a GT3 with the same mileage, I would probably take the GT3. Yum.

most of you still like the NSX ALOT, so I would be curious to hear what you guys have to say about the Lotus Esprit. It had a very similar life as the NSX, ending in 2005 or 2006, cant remember, and running through the '90s before its design update. Its also mid engine, 350HP, lightweight, etc.

I'm wondering if you guys really think the platform and driveability of both cars is what you like...or is it just because Acura no longer makes sports cars and we are biased??

Yes. It's probably the rarest Japanese sports car available in American to this day, making it a spot for anyone.

No shit, I've seen more Skylines in Dallas than NSXs and I mean pre-R35 GT-R.

Never liked that lotus that much, and my opinion wouldn't change. The NSX needs/needed more power. Even back in the day. It has nothing to do with the fact that Acura doesn't make sports cars anymore, nor should it be relevant. (for me any way)

The NSX will always be a favorite of mine. I think it's great that Honda chose to keep it N/A while other Japanese sports cars were using turbos. A high strung in-line 6 would have been interesting. Something similar to the E46 M3 motor would probably be sufficient.

I saw a red one this past weekend and they still have me doing a double take. Honda needs to produce that V10 prototype from a few years ago.

I've followed them a bit over the decades with my ONLY interest being theTurbo Esprit. (Thank you 007!!) I wouldnt mind seeing a rebirth of the Turbo Esprit maybe using a sourced Honda K23.

Although short on power the NSX makes up for it with superb handling and balance. One area that people tend to forget about the NSX is that it really influenced other sports car makers at the time. When it came out it was better in almost all performance area's over a 911 and 348 Ferrari. Montezemolo when he took over Ferrari was upset whenever comparison tests came out with the NSX beating the Ferrari. Add in it was also reliable and dependable, made that even more annoying to the competition. None the less it was still a financial loss for Acura/Honda the plant was built to handle 25 cars/day and they averaged 5/day due to demand.

To answer the OP question, I would say yes the NSX is still relavent but also to me the styling looks a bit dated today.

Yes. And I hope/plan to own one in the near future. I still get excited every time I see one.
