Nooooo.....E55 AMG
Hey buddies...
I'm pretty darn close to purchasing an '04 TL. Niccccee car, considering I hardly look at cars from the congested Island of the Far East.
Anyway, I was just thinking of other rides I could have instead of a TL. I thought of a 350Z: Nope, impractical and poor quality. Rx-8: Naw, not quick enough/low torque. BMW 3-series: Waay too common here. Underpowered
So today I saw an add of a 1999 E55 AMG. For about $33k, 33k mi on the odo.
What do you guys think? Here's how I compare the two:
E55 AMG
Pros: Buckets of Torque the size of mountains, 0-60mph in 5.0s , 0-100mph 12s. Good interior size
Cons: High Maintenance? , used vehicle, mileage on the high side, maybe hard to resell?
'04TL:
Pros: Fresh new look, luscious cabin. Decent muscle. Tons of gadgets
Cons: It'll get dusted by the AMG. Power is decent, but its no AMG
I love power, but I don't know if its worth getting a car 6 yrs old
What do u all think?

I really don't know, I don't pay attention to stuff like that because I don't have the money for anything like a new car, but how is that high milage?
33,000miles/6years is only like 5,500/year, or am I just doing my math wrong?

try to find more info on the maintenance of an AMG... from what I know they tend to be pretty expensive to maintain... it just seems like MB build quality is slipping and i would be cautious...
the biggest downside to a car like the AMG is that you know the last owner really pushed it.. i mean thats the only reason to get it right... try to get as much info as possible and im sure you will be able to make the right choice!

I'd pass on the E, go with the fresh look of the millenium. You're probably going to pay up the wazoo with the E in maintenance considering it's well out if it's warranty too. Do you really need all that power to sit in good 'ol Cali traffic?

AMG is a special car. Hand built engines. Upgraded and proven track experience and suspension. As stated, check out the maintenance but I'd go for AMG. What a conversation piece.

Yeah, I understand that the TL looks much more fresh and au courrant (up to date). I just don't wanna dish out that $ on an AMG and find out that it needs a new transmission or something. But really do you think owners push their AMG's? Most of the AMG'ers here are on the old side and tend to drive passively. I dunno. I mean, 30k-60k on a AMG engine isn't that much is it?
