yesterday as i am pulling out of work i see a car about to drive by. At first the headlights struck me as a porsche but then i realized it wasnt. As it passed i saw the back and it said Noble M12... these things are supposed to be track monsters, but i didnt know if they were street legal in the US...

it looked really hot though...

I've seen one on eBay recently for about $70,000.

It appeared to have license plates on it, so I would guess they are legal.

I LOVE that car.

they are sold as kit cars and can be built by urself or someone else. the only thing that they do not sell is the motor. but i believe from what i heard that the motor is a ford V8 with a twin turbo setup that can be pruchased and installed in the car and the motor can be maintanced byt ford. my but it has like a skid G pda rating of i think 1.3 which is crazy.

Actually the engine is a 3.0L V6 Duratec Ford engine with twin turbos. Noble M400 is the mother of all Nobles.


The M400 is only a few ticks behind the Ford GT in the 0-100-0 MPH race.

so where can i order my R34 Skyline kit car with no engine and then drop in a RB26det on my own later???

how does a kit car become street legal? do they do any crash testing or stuff required by the gov't? or is it covered under some special regulations?

Kit cars aren't required to pass crash testing regulations. They fall under the same category as street rods. They just need certain requirements like seatbelts, lighting, brakes, bumpers, etc...

The tricky part is getting insurance for them.

hence why the noble has no airbags or ABS is think but i could be wrong on that

so would it be possible to bring a Skyline with no engine to the US as a kit car and then put your own engine in it (RB26) as long as you can get it insured?

basically i am trying to see if i can sneak one through the cracks...

on a side note i thought someone mentioned motorex, the only legal skyline importer, is going out of business???

skyline isnt even a kit car so it wouldnt really matter. you cant import one in parts and build it..

the best thing you could do is find a place that sells skylines that were already imported here and went through all laws and regulations for US specs.. but one problem, its gonna cost ya tons more than the msrp its set at in japan.

i would care less about having a skyline shell. i rather have the RB engine shipped or buy one off a junkyard and stick it into a.. Z body or something.
