I think they are, but of course they're not at the same level as Honda yet. As for the comparison between Infiniti and Acura brands, we've already beat that topic like a dead horse. Yes, I know the TL outsells the 2nd gen G35, but there are way less Infiniti dealers than Acura.
I love the Acura fanboy comments from "mikeydred20". What a loser.

Infiniti is working on one helluva line up. The M is a home run, I would love to see them do something about the tail lights, but that is a small gripe. The new G sedan is a home run and the FX is doing very well, I have mixed feelings about that QX56 thing. The G37 coupe is a bit of a let down for me, unlike the previous generation the new G35 sedan is not blown away by its coupe counterpart. A new flagship car that behaves like the M in its catagory and a fresher(and lighter) G37 coupe would make for a fantastic line up. It seems infiniti is really distancing themselves from Acura, perhaps not on the level of Lexus or BMW, but a buffer between and on the heels of both.

In 2004 when I bought my Acura I was not as impressed with the G35, the second gen G was a huge improvement, 3 days after the new G was released in north america I was driving one.
Don't get me wrong, both are far from perfect and I probably won't be driving the infiniti in a year, however, having driven both for extended periods of time I would take the infiniti all day long given the choice.
I am a huge Honda/Acura fan, they just don't make a car that excites me, there line up is stale and quite boring. If someone is shopping for a car and price is a major factor I recommend them in a second. I find it funny, Acura people tend to dislike infiniti, yet most infiniti fans here still have an enormous amount of respect for honda/acura, that says a lot.

My folks got a G35x though and I drove it and fell in love with the engine power and performance vs the ho-hum performance of the TSX. I even had the current TL as a loaner although of course faster than the TSX, but it handles like a boat. I agree with everything you have up there except 2:G35/G37 > TL
Infiniti > Acura (because they offer RWD, AWD, and no FWD cars and have a V-8 option)

Acura is a great bang for the buck... I decided to try FWD as a daily driver, and since I'm cheap, the CL came up in my shopping list.
It's a great car, and I wouldn't still have it after 4 1/2 years if it wasn't, but there's nothing in the current Acura line up that I'd buy right now. Nothing that excites me... And with the pricing of the TL moving upscale a bit, it's not as great of a bargain as it used to be.
You can "Advance" with Acura, but with Infiniti, there seems to be alot more passion and emotion in their cars...
Honda/Acura has let their sportscars get old and long in the tooth. No NSX, S2K should have had redesigned a few years ago, and there's no coupe in the Acura line up. That should tell you that Acura doesn't care about sports oriented cars or is to incompetent to plan future model releases/redesigns, and is merely satisfied with pushing out cookie cutter suvs and sedans for soccer moms and technophiles....

...now it's just the opposite. The CL's days are numbered in my garage and, while I do like it, it will be my last Acura for some time.
I am moving to either Infiniti or Lexus.

my next car will have to be either awd or rwd, preferrably lightweight.
love my tsx for what it is though...
I think only the TL, TSX and MDX is what keeps banking $$$ for Honda. I question the RDX and RL ... those things are
. I do not see how leaving out a coupe from a 'sport luxury' car manufacturer makes any image sense at all. Isn't the heritage of the Legend coupe / NSX / Integra what made this marque the envy among the Japanese makes?
I still think Acura does its thing very well -- "sporty" FWD cars that are more posh than presence for the up-and-comer. When people have 'made it', they move onto BMW / Lexus / MB ... etc. I bought my wife a TSX since I think it's very good for what it does ... built in Japan, along with the plush things it has for its price range -- very hard to beat. (And she doesn't want to swap rims each spring / autumn like me so FWD good for northern climates ... I worry about her winter driving skills and RWD)
Honda better stop looking at the pocketbooks and pay homage to the brand image created by the founder. And yes, I'm looking elsewhere (ie G37 coupe) unless I can find a low miles 2002+ NSX for cheap for me to import from the US

I've gone from Acura to Infiniti and here my opinion:
1) TL >>>>> G35 sedan. I got a new G35 sedan as a loaner and I wasn't really impressed with its interior. Felt like I was in an Altima. Leather quality on the TL is so much better IMO.
2) M >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> RL. RL is way outclassed. Boy, is the RL ugly.
3) FX > RDX. I'm not even sure if this is correct comparison given that FX is almost 10k more than RDX.... FX and RDX might be in its own category for now.
4) MDX > QX. I really like the new MDX. I think QX is just a dressed up Armada.
TSX... uh nothing to compare it with.
G35c... nothing to compare it with.
I currently own a FX35, but if I were to purchase another sedan, I would go back to the TL. The new generation TL with Navigation still makes me go "oooooh"
If I were to purchase another cross-over, I'd definitely stick to FX. FX has its cool factor and I think this is the only cross-over with decent after market support since it shares the same engine with the G and Z.

i like both the TL and G35 sedan, so I can't say I which one I like more. although you can get AWD with the G35 sedan, but can't with the TL.

MDX is a full size cross-over. The QX is a truck.
The FX is a bit long in tooth. Packaging sucks.
The RDX is just the tip of the iceberg: Infiniti, Audi, and Lexus are all scrambling to catch up with Acura and BMW (X3). Funny thing is, given its segment, the RDX is probably the Acura vehicle that is most tilted towards performance. It is THE sportiest cross-over except for maybe the Cayenne and the JDM Forester STI. Which is why I bought one.

M> RL Agree
MDX > FX?? I would rather drive a V8 RWD/AWD SUV than a FWD based SUPER HANDLING AWD V6 SUV.

X3 is RWD based platform and RWD bias AWD system (same platform as 3-series, including M3), FX and future EX is RWD based platform and RWD bias AWD system (same platform as Z, G35/37, M), RDX is FWD based with a FWD bias AWD system (same platform as CRV, Civic).
Looks to me that the RDX is on the lower end of "sport" compared to the sportier alternatives in this price segment, not to mention more expensive cars such as the Cayenne.

Again ... Infiniti has made great strides to brand themselves and bring out products for enthusiasts. I don't know if it will ever catch Lexus and their 'pursuit of
' but kudos to those Toyota marketers. That's why Toyota is making close to a billion every quarter. But if you look at the average joe / jane ... to most, a car is to get someone from A to B, with a few creature comforts to make them feel good to get around. RWD vs FWD ... most don't care so as long it doesn't break down on them and it doesn't cost an arm & a leg to fill it up with gas.
So I'm not sure what the most appropriate benchmark to measure "best" here since business will use sales / profits as their guide.

That's why there's a lexus...for those [old] people that want a little more comfort than honda or toyota offer. And that's why there's Infiniti and BMW...for those people that want a little more sport than honda or toyota offer. And that's why there's Acura...for those that want a sportier Honda (considering Honda has killed off any SPORT in its lineup, save for the Civic SI and soon to be departed s2000)...although it seems lately they are just turning Acura into an "AWD" honda store.
