damn that is pretty quick.
The next closest thing in it's price category is the Z06 at 1:22.4 (besides the atom), and they called that 'undriveable' on the road, whereas the GTR seemed to be pretty comfortable, at least on a drive across Japan.
seems like the gtr is really the new yardstick. I'm just glad to see that the Japanese can make a car that can compete with the world's greatest.

btw, another thing to emphasize... the GTR is a little over 3,800lbs... (vs something like the Enzo at around 2,700lbs)!!!

Its all due the two monstrous flux capacitors hidden behind the exhaust outlets

I wonder how much weight the GTR could stand to lose if they wanted to. Carbon fiber body work, magnesium/titanium components might put it in the same price range as some of the italian supercars.
I don't think they'll ever do this, but it would be interesting to see how far all the technology could take them if they put it in a real supercar.

Nissan definitely raised the bar with this one not just in terms of performance, but bang for the buck. It is simply the performance bargain of the new century and we may never see another like it (Z06 not withstanding)....

And that's relevant to its 0-60mph times how?
EDIT: I am really close to posting a sticky thread entitled 'I HATE THE NEW THE GT-R'. This way, those who agree can post their butter face remarks there and the rest of us can skip over the sticky altogether.

to each his own, a lot of cars are designed with the... "love it or hate it" concept... cars that are neither? are usually bland... and usually don't sell well. personally, when I see a vette, it doesn't phase me any more than 90% of the cars on the road... heck, a VW GTI R32 grabs my attention more

btw Top Gear Crashed the GT-R..

Top Gear crashes England's only Nissan GT-R press car Posted Jul 22nd 2008 3:02PM by Drew Phillips Filed under: Etc., Nissan Top Gear has had its fair share of mishaps. There was that time the Stig took the Koenigsegg CCX on an off-track excursion, and of course Hammond's horrific crash in the jet dragster. The latest incident involves the one and only Nissan GT-R press car in Great Britain. Apparently it was involved in a fender bender in the Isle of Man after a photoshoot for Top Gear magazine. It seems that the GT-R wasn't damaged too badly, despite the pic of its naked arse above, and the same exact car ran up the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed only a couple days later. Check out our own just-published review of the 2009 Nissan GT-R. We managed to keep our press car in one piece.

^^^Yeah, the old Stig wore black and was "killed" at the end of season 2 or 3 when he drove off the end of an aircraft carrier. Since then the Stig has worn white (though he may or may not have been several different drivers)....

Like seriously, how pisssed off are all the Lambo, Aston and Ferrari owners going to be now? They’re cars are going to be smoked off the line and killed in the corners. And the Vspec/Nismo (if any) model hasen't even debuted yet. Italy and Germany won't be getting good sleep knowing this car is out there.

just imagine when Nissan cut some weight off the GTR in a couple years... imagine the GTR being 400-500lbs less... maybe a carbon fiber edition...
