On looks alone, I say the Hyundai.

Performance, I'm sure, is something the Z would own.

I don't think that a RWD V8 sport coupe should be considered to be in the same class as an accord, a alti coupe and the eclipse.......

As long as the Genesis Coupe drives like a true sports car, I would go with that.

On looks alone, the Genesis Coupe.

While I don't care for the new Z design that much.

It's for sure more agressive looking than the Genesis.
The Gen coupe is a little plain...especially the front end...and the dipping side windows are

I'll take the Z

the headlights and tailights on the Z is what's holding me back. just irks me when a few little things look out of place.

the genesis coupe looks too economical though. something about it just screams cheap to me.

so the lesser of 2 evils, Z

umm....guys its official.

I went to Nissan dealership and ordered base 370z with sports package. And of course, I picked the right transmission, Manual 6 speed, SyncroRev match baby!

I liked the car in real life. I like the side profile, rear side flares, interior...it looks so aggressive!

If theres one thing, I still need to get used to the front headlights....maybe i should cover the face of 370z with grocery bag?, like when your about to do it with ugly girl?...............lol

Dealer said my new car should arrive in 4 weeks.

Peace to my Acura TSX, it has been a good car.

....i feel bad for not purchasing Hyundai Genesis coupe, I picked 370z cause its more of a real sports car than GenCoupe. But I know GenCoupe is going to be a nice car....

I must say, I'm shocked that you bought the Nissan.
Congrats on the new car. What color? What kind of a deal did you get?

Platinum Graphite,

Dealer was asking me $34,000 initially, I negotiated for 2 hours and ended up with $31,000.

That's some good negotiating skills you have there. You got it for a tad under invoice ($31,340), and for a car just a few weeks into release, that is a great price.
Some places are demanding a $5,000 "market adjustment".

Both look good, but I like the Z, the wide rear end reminds me of a Porsche.

I'm totally shocked as well. That post just blew my mind.

I was 100% expecting msl to come back in here and call us all racists for preferring the Z.

Maybe I was wrong about you msl...

I want to like the Gen coupe, (saw a TON of them in Seoul recently) but can't get into the styling at all. From the back it is okay, but the front just looks weird to me - the grille is too small and I don't like the strange side crease.

Went to the Nissan dealer on the way home today with the full intention of test driving a new Z. They didn't have any on the lot or in the showroom - wtf!!! Didn't want to get molested by a salesman so I rolled out -- need to wait for nicer weather to properly drive one anyway.

Um, ok. Lets recap. msl82, AZine's resident Hyundai fanboi has just purchased a new 370Z (a car he has repeatedly dogged out for its looks) instead of waiting for the Genesis coupe later this year! I can't believe several people haven't chimed in on this one......

1) I am not Hyundai fanboi, i rather call myself supporter of them. Just like how you are fan of Acura. All I was doing is trying to break the negative stereotyping of Hyundai image that was pervasive in this board.

2) I was in the market for RWD sports car. I have compared both cars in terms performance. And the bottom line, in my opinion, 370z > GenCoupe. The looks of 370z and GenCoupe are subject, I like them both equally.

3) And just the fact that I choose Nissan 370z over GenCoupe, is clear sign that I am not irrational Hyundai Fanboy.

Oh yea, one other thing I didn't like about GenCoupe is that 2.0 turbo is going to start about $20,000, so a lots of highschool or young kids are going to buy it. And Nissan 370z is going to be more exclusive....

Hmm... do you live in Korea because afaik, the Gen coupe is not released here in the US yet.

Also, it does seem fishy that you were able to get a 370z for below invoice when everyone seems to be paying MSRP or slightly below according to the370z.com.
Did you post in the new owners thread because I didn't see you there.

Setup thread for later bashing of the 370z, where OP will conjure up numerous problems with the car and claim he should've gone with the Gen coupe instead?

Never mind, I see you in the pricing thread.
But regardless, how were you able to compare the Gen coupe to the 370Z when it's not even released yet?
It says you're in the US.

My comparison criteria are based on performance, and looks. I dont care about the price, practicality, or etc...

Performance is based upon facts, while looks are based on my subjectivity.

You can compare the performance of these two cars based upon official specification released by their respective company. If you research it in the internet, you can easily find it.

Here is the good source for GenCoupe. www.gencoupe.com

Based upon my extensive research, and by many claimes from S.Korean websites, GenCoupe will most likely achieve 0-60 5.7-5.9 secs range.

For 370z 0-60 is 4.9 - 5.1 sec.

I have never said I saw GenCoupe in real life.

For looks, I can only base my opinion about the looks of GenCoupe by pictures, and they do look nice on pictures, and they might look better in real life, But I dont really need to see GenCoupe in real life because my priority is performance more than looks. And most importantly, 370z looks amazing in real life anyways!!...

For performance, 370z wins easily. It also has worlds first SyncroRev match, in which i was amazed by its smoothness and preciseness when I was test driving it.

By the way, I am registered in 370z.com and posted a new thread about it. Here: http://www.the370z.com/nissan-370z-p...ered-370z.html

As you can see, it has my same name MSL82

PUHAHAHAHAHHAHA!!!

What an idea!! Talk about thinking outside of the box!!. Now, that would have been a great method for Hyundai Fanboy isnt it?....

You seem to be really really familiar with this kind of attacking method, no wonder under your avatar, it says, "Nissan fanboy"...

I like them both. It depends, I would get tired of the 370Z's styling after a while. It's a fun car and aggressive looking, but it would get old.

I would take the GenC, just because I would like the design longer. There are a few things they need to change though. Bigger and more upscale looking grille, more aggressive wheels, and that side window kink? Whats that about? Plus, the T4 probably gets better mileage, and I expect it to go pretty good. 370Z would kill it, but for everyday, GenC FTW!

Nissan is starting to make very polarizing designs. 09 Maxima, 09 Murano, and now 370Z. What's next?

BTW, what is the big thing in between the dual exhaust on the 370Z? It reminds me of a hitch cover off of a TrailBlazer or something...

I like the Genesis coupe more based on looks alone.... I really like the rear. The 370Z has a nice, curvaceous profile but I don't like that sharp A-pillar/roof merge or the scared look of the headlights.

All this time he defends Hyundai and decides to get a 370Z instead? The world is coming to an end!!!!!!!!!

I will have to agree with you though... the performance on the Z is probably a lot better than the Genesis Coupe's. If only they stuck the Tau V8 in there.... that would be a different story. Enjoy the Z, the rev match is cool but rev matching on your own > letting the computer do it
