The Nikes were getting worn out...
So I got this:

It's a 2003 Jetta GLS, with the 2.0 gasoline motor. It's got about 125k miles on it, and I paid $3500.
It's got some minor cosmetic blemishes, but I'm very happy with the purchase. Clear coat is in good condition, and it came with new summer and winter tires. The previous owner also put in a JVC head unit with Bluetooth which I'm enjoying very much.
No plans really, I already has ma fuzzy dice on.
Just going to drive it and enjoy it. When I have time I'll do a clay and polish. I also need to clear up the headlight lens and replace the shift boot and a sidemarker.

The driving experience is rather unique. It has 115 horsepower.
First gear is absolutely useless, and I've never driven a car with this short of a top gear:

It's a little blurry, but that's more than 3600 rpm and it's not even doing 80. As long as it gets good fuel economy

Thanks guys. I'm having fun with it
There's a cheap mod thread on VW Vortex that's pretty interesting... nothing really caught my eye except for maybe a rear fog setup... but it looks like a turn signal.
Oh you have no idea... I'm just happy it's an MT otherwise it would be tragic.

Congrats on the new car, and presumably no payment!
Polish up them headlights...hid kit, maybe some cheap springs...BAM. Call it a day.

CONGRATS AMAN!! MANUAL FTW!
$3500 is a good price btw.

This may be common knowledge, but for the headlights I used a baking soda / water mix for my Accord. Just mix it into a paste and use it as a polish, swirling it on and cleaning it off. Be careful not to get any on the paint, however.

Thanks all. I'm enjoying this car more each time I drive it.
I love the shifter. The throw are a bit long, but it shifts into gear easily and the knob feels great. I need to get used to the clutch a bit. It catches pretty low, but doesn't fully engage until fairly high in the travel so I need to get used to using my entire leg instead of just my ankle.
Never heard of the baking soda/water mix before, but that's an interesting idea. But I have a restoration kit sitting at home, so I'll just use that.
@ WD-40.
The shift boot does need replacing. I tried screwing off the knob just now and it was pretty stubborn. Hopefully it doesn't give me any problems. Maybe even a new knob if they're not too expensive.
The tints look like 50% but I'm not sure. They were done at the dealer before the previous owner bought it.
