Well aware of that. Thanks for the heads up though.

Thanks! Yep the Bose system is pretty nice. The spare tire mounted sub-woofer is actually perfect for me. I had a 10" sub box back in the day and although it pumped it was too much for me. This is nice for when I want to turn it up but isn't obnoxious for everyday listening volumes.

The Accord actually had a great sounding system, too. It was the premium 180w version in the 6mts.

Washed the car for the first time yesterday. The paint is absolutely amazing in the sun. Kind of reminds me of a bass boat ha ha. Sick metallic flake. And I said I'd never buy a red car again lol.

Nice choice...I used to have a bad stigma for Mazda after having a very crappy 1998 626 but these newer ones are absolutely changing my mind about them!

Just got the MPG results from my first full tank of gas in the MS6. 24.5 MPG from 50/50 mix of driving. Not too shabby. Not quite as frugal as the Accord, as was expected, but for a nearly 3500lb car with AWD and a turbo it's pretty dang good. I've been trying my best to stay out of the boost, key word "trying", but highway entrance ramps beg for it ha ha! So far I'm truly enjoying the car. The only must-do's at the moment are install an iPod connector, get some tint on the windows before it hits 100° outside and do a slight drop. Otherwise I'm entirely pleased with the car so far.

I use to have a 2005 Mazda6 V6 6 speed stick. It was a nice car but had some build issues ( clutch, build). I blame it on the UAW before Ford got their crap together. I only had it one year, enjoyed the perfect size and nice sporty seating feel. Had the usual fast revving Mazda engine feel.

Where is your built at?

All Mazdspeed6s were built in Hiroshima, Japan. The 2006 MS6 did have some clutch issues, but they revised it for 2007.

Very nice ride. I've always liked those, but they didn't sell the speed version here. Just the Atenza (6) with a V6.

^ Thank you, sir! I assumed they sold the Mazdaspeeds in Japan, I didn't know only the V6 was available. They sold them in other countries other than the U.S., the U.K. for sure, but as the MPS. It's so odd they didn't sell them in the same country they were made. Hmm.

I nearly bought that Spec B but the Legacy definitely holds it's resale value much better than the Mazdaspeed6s do, so for the price I couldn't turn down the deal on the Mazda.

Well I went into this deal knowing the Mazda wouldn't be as maintenance-free as the Accord was, and so far that's proven true. A week ago the CEL came on when I was going to the grocery store. A day later it went off when I filled the car with gas. Strange. Well it came back on a few days ago so I had it scanned at AutoZone. The code came up as an EGR related issue. Turns out the MS3 and MS6s suffer from carbon build up in the EGR valves which causes either the valve to stick or the EGR tube to clog up. So after researching the mazdaspeed forum I found a DIY and tackled it this morning. The EGR tube was complete blocked up with carbon. I soaked the crap out of it with brake cleaner and snaked some pieces of rag through the tube to clean it out. The EGR valve wasn't stuck but the interior of it was caked up pretty good with carbon. There was a dead spider chilling on the top of the plunger, so I laid him to rest and cleaned everything up. Hopefully this ends the CEL issue, I'm thinking it will. At least I got to know my way around the engine compartment I guess. I also replaced the front pads with some Centric Posi Quiet pads. It was weird seeing FOMOCO stamped into the calipers.

Nothing like breaking the seal with a new car by pulling a bunch of parts off of it.

Spider power

Lots 'o carbon

Good job! I need to do the same but to delete the tube.. the cel issue should be cleared now. That happens to a lot of ms owners. You should do the seaform when u get some free time.

Thanks man! Just a warning, it wasn't a difficult job by any means, it's just tight in the engine compartment so wrestling with some of the connections and hose clamps was a serious PITA. Also the bolt on the end of the EGR tube was hard to get a good angle on so that took quite a while to get off.

As far as deleting the EGR, I don't know, personally I'm kind of against removing emissions equipment and plus I've read that deleting it means carbon will end up going straight through the cat possibly damaging the cell inside. I'd rather spend a Saturday morning cleaning it out verses having to replace the cat because I'm sure that piece is a pretty penny. <-- No pun intended lol. Plus I H-A-T-E having to stare at at lit CEL.

I considered doing the Seafoam treatment but I have to read more up on it before I do it.

Thanks, Terry. There's nothing like working on a car for the first time. It's intriguing seeing how one car company designs things verses another. I got so used to working on Honda products that this was a refreshing exercise. I wonder if the brakes are straight off of a Ford model? I knew there were some shared parts with I think the Fusion, but I don't think they had a high performance brake system on them, so I wonder if the calipers are off something else? I'll have to research that a bit.

Awesome job. How did the turbo look?

I've never used Seafoam, but I tend to switch gas brands every so often, with the thought that the additives and detergents in one will help clean out those from another. It may be delusional, but I'm conditioned against other additives, especially in the oil.

Thanks! The turbo sits low and behind the engine, so I could really get a great look at it. The car seems to run a little smoother now after the EGR cleaning. And I'm the same way with any additives or treatments, not a huge fan of either one.

I've been thinking of a specialized plate. As much as I wanted to avoid one, I have a strange addiction to searching for them on the Motor Vehicle sight. So far it's between these two. Thoughts?

^ Thank you, sir! MS6TRBO was my first choice, but then I found 4WDTRBO and it made me second guess my first choice. AWDTRBO is taken. I just tried MS6ZOOM and it's availalbe. Hmmm.

A few more that are available that I liked are:

MZDTRBO
TRBOSPD

I like it, too! This is tough!!!

There's nothing wrong with what you bought. I considered a regular 6, just happened to get lucky with finding an unmolested MS6.

Yeah, I don't post there at all. I made an introduction and that's it, otherwise I just browse for info. It's a tough crowd over there. I'm happy right where I am on AZine.

MS6ZOOM for sure!

No offense, but I've always thought "turbo" anything is cheesy . To each his own though.

Car looks great with tints, I love the contrast of red / dark black.

Thanks! The tint did make a huge difference.
