Post Newbie :) ..05 S60R AWD 6sp VS 05-06 TL FWD 6sp VS 02-04 330ci MT RWD. Any inputs..?

I bet you were debating your 6SP TL's vs the 330ci MT(why MT? Cause its 5sp for up to 03 including, and a new 6sp for 04 and up), and i should probably go STFA, but once again, maybe any fresh opinions..? Especially on that S60R AWD 6SP, which is a hell of a car! Especially with that big(but a little LAGgy) Turbo the R has+AWD+6sp!!!...YUMMIE!!! heh

If some of you could honestly take your Acura hats off and tell me about your cars, experinces, weak points, plusses/minuses, etc. Eventually all of our cars have weak points. Either its my A6 twin turbo, or my friends TL-S type, or any other car. ("Hi" to my TL buddie, if he reads that, lol)

Any other cars i should be looking at..?

My criteria’s/likes are:

1) Love the Turbo Torque and more HP to gain by modding it.
2) Has to be a MT. 6 speed preferably.
3) AWD and RWD would be my picks #1 and 2 respectivelly. Sorry, not too big of a fan of the FWD. I however like many other things
4) Brand/Make of the car name. Otherwise I’d pick an STi right away! Lol
5) One thing that is much annoying to me is that people buy cars only because of their popularity, without even evaluating it(that happened to the TLs, unfortunately) and as a status(that happened to the BMWs and 330ci as well. I would say so about the x25i Auto owners in particular, because they mostly do not treat their cars the way a BMW should be. What kind of performance would you get out of a 2.5 engine, especially in Auto). But what can us enthusiasts do… I would tell you a story that happened to me in particular, but im not even sure you guys want to read all that.
6) Design is a very big part.

Sorry if im not following some of the rules you have here. Ex. STFA, that one of our A6 buddies uses all the time on the Audi board…

TIA

Volvo is pretty hawt, although I see lots of soccer moms driving those. Its expensive to mod, and maintain.

330ci is an awesome car but theres a new body out.

Get the TL.

I am looking for a new car myself, going to check out the lexus dealership if I have time tommorow or next weekend. Have you considered the is350? I'll post a review when I do.

It is expensive to mod. But once you do, the turbo shows Significant results. You will have to mod a TL with Chip+exhaust+intake, wile the R only needs Chip to get same gain. See what im saying? Plus AWD launch is no comparison to FWD. Those are mine consernes. Plus i kinda like the 4C chassis idea. Im fine with driving a soccer moms car that will Loose a 330ci, 530i, 540i 6sp, TL, G35 any combination, 350Z and many other sports not only sedans, but also coupes!

Now the Maintenance is a concern. I know it will be more expensive than a Corolla, but i dont think it will be significant VS a TL. Correct me if im wrong.

TIA

Of the three choices, I'd definitely go for the S60R. It's hot, AWD, and 300 hp. Those 18" pegasus wheels are pretty nice too, but I'd stay away from the body kit. That's a little overkill IMO.

It really sounds like you've already picked the car you like the best.

You want 1) 6spd 2)AWD 3)turbo. You just listed the specs on the Volvo. So go buy it already and start having fun!

Of the choices you've listed I'd get the Volvo. Stock though, I think you'd be a little disappointed when some of those other cars you mentioned give you a run for the money in a race. The Volvo is nice but it isn't exactly a highway monster in stock form. Faster than alot of cars but not by much. AWD is nice but eats up alot of those 300 ponies due to higher drivetrain losses.

of those 3. I'd take the 330CI. Yes, It doesn't have AWD.
I love Hondas(and Acuras) I have 2, however if you look at a powerband of a Honda or Acuras(except the new RL) before the V-TEC "hits" a Honda or Acura is pretty "flat"
Now my complaint for the S60R is My buddy has one.He wouldn't let me drive it. however I watched the tach while he drove it. it made the V-TEC when it kicks in seem "seemless" below about 3500-4000 rpm the car a dog. once get the turbo to spool YOUR GONE. it seems like either the Turbo wide open or off. there's no in between.
I know BMW is known for Electrical issues. however every car maker has a "weak link" for example the CLs and TLs(generation 2) are known for crapping out trannys. it's just part of the car.

plus with BMW you have free basic car care(oil changes, wipers, etc) for 3 or 4 years( i think). Plus I think the new look Bangle did on the 3 series is HOT.
the TL okay.
only bitch about the S60R is everyone thinks the Volvo is for rich old timers who care about safety.

Did you concider a used Golf R32. if you upgrade the Turbos on those suckers they are FRICKEN QUICK. It makes a 1.8 turbo Gti look like a turtle.

The R32 is naturally aspirated. I've heard good and bad things about the car. Not a true fulltime AWD system (fwd until awd needed)

The CDV on the clutch is annoying as shit. I'm sure it can be modded like the bimmers, but stock I can't stand it.

Because of the CDV I had trouble getting any decent power til boost kicked in around 2-2.5rpm. And then power just goes flat at 5rpm. Its a very mid range car, and I;m very used to broader, or higher level power band. Because of all that I did not love the car. I liked it, I could live with it (I was looking at the v70R, but drove the S60R because you cant find a 70 in stick wit ordering.) exterior is nice, interior is nice.

It just wasn't an exciting drive.

Is a slower car like a 530i or 330ci more interesting to drive? Yes they handle better, but i cant even understand in what way... They still Much slower...
Is a FWD TL 6sp more fun? Its slower and not even a RWD, not talking about AWD... I mean im fine with both AWD and RWD, but once i drove the 6sp 05 TL, it was squeeezing wheels in every corner/turn i went in to...until Traction Control kicked in to stop the crazinest... My Quattro would never do this to me! In every corner??! Are you kidding me? Or i would just have to suck it up and learn how shoot corners with a FWD?

You're 18...buy yourself a clue.

Why does it have to be a 6spd over a 5spd?

How do you know you don't like FED...you barely sound like you know how to drive.
brand/make....you fucking 18, shut the fuck up.

5) You are completly talking out of your ass on this one. Not mention parroting the viewpoints of others...piss poorly I might add.

1) TL - FWD owns me in my area, and you can't beat the technology in this sucker...
2) BMW - see above reference, and it's pretty much an outgoing model, the next gen is around the corner
3) Volvo - As sweet as it is, Volvo has yet to build a decent manual transmission

A car doesn't have to be "fast" to be interesting to drive... And 9/10 times, it's the driver, not the car, especially when talking about a car with a manual trans.

I'm sure a bunch of people wouldn't agree with me on this, but I'll give you an example. A few times I rented some nice cars the times I was in Vegas. On 2 different times, once a BMW Z3 M roadster, another a Boxster. The Z3 was balls out all over the place fun, while the Boxster is so much more of an intimate car to drive. The BMW had decent power, and that was about all the thrill. The handling on the Boxster was excellent, and overall even though it didn't have nearly the same power or ride, I still enjoyed the Boxster more, not to mention listening to the music coming from behind me (hardly turned the radio on because of it), which was why I rented it again a few times afterwards. I can't really explain it, you just have to drive it to know what I'm talking about.

When I was 18 I had my own limo. It would pick me up everyday on the same corner, and guess how much it cost? $1.10 one way.

Started off with a hand me down 1986 chrysler lebaron that barely went 75mph without shaking violently. Damn now that I look back on it... It was pretty damn embarrasing, not as embarassing as getting off the 45foot limo.

I miss that old whooptie.

Just read a British review about the B6 S4 vs M3 vs S60R. TopGear magazine. SH#$&*T! They comparing the R to an M3??? Well, ok, M3 won, but the fact that they wouldnt even compare it to the 330ci makes me smile. But look, its true, except the 330ci's handling there is nothing else to compare the two! The R has like 75 more HP! Not talkin bout the Torque... R deffinitelly a winner here. The TL is a Japaneese. Especially FWD. This is a whole new story. But its accelleration is pretty close. Not sure bout the TL handling compared to the R or 330ci...? Anybody?

But im still willing to hear more oppinions. Its not gonna hurt anybody, right?

TIA
