The reason they wont base it on the A6 platform is because the A6 platform will be made of aluminum. So cost did not permit.

Now here is the new engines which is pretty interesting cos we will see these in other VW and Audi cars:

The top engine will be the current W8 4.0 liter with 275 or so HP.

There will be a new 2 liter direct injection engine which will make 150HP in its NA application. That engine will be turbocharged to make 180HP and it will replace the current 1.8 liter T engine. That means we will see this engine in the A4 and TT I am guessing as well as the GOlf and others I am sure. I am also guessing that torque will be improved due to the larger displacement.

There will also be a 240HP 3.2 liter engine which is currently used in the Golf R32.

THere are 3 diesel engines which I am guessing wont make it here, or maybe one will. There is a 3 liter diesel engine making 200HP but making 370 !!! lb-ft of torque.

The AWD will also be kept as currently.

The new Passat is expected in Europe in a year from now. Wow! That is pretty fast.
