New or Used ?
I know this is really a personal preference question...but in my very relaxed search for a new vehicle, Ive come upon some of the cars on my list in very lightly used condition for an excellent price. I've bought all my cars used, from private parties, for a great price, and have had zero problems. Is it really worth buying a car brand new from a dealer ? I have no financial problems...so I could easily buy something brand new...but Im also a cheap son of a bitch when it comes to buying something for $60-80k. Right now Im getting one hell of a deal on a 2005 M3 with 5000 miles for $45k and Im considering it.

But seeing that I dont really need the car...is whats giving me second thoughts, not to mention the advice that was given to me by cob telling me to wait for the new one. I think Im eventually gonna pass.

It really depends on the make and model...
$45K sounds like a fantastic price on on 05... I've seen people asking 40's for a 2003...
This is one of those cases where buying used would be a good idea.

I couldn't agree more, unless I'm REALLY rolling it, I will probably never buy a new car...there are always 1-2 year old cars out there with great milage, in great condition that can be had for a song compared to what a dealer is asking for a new model.
But, like yourself, I'm also a cheap son of a bitch and don't like loosing $$ just by driving off the dealer lot....

I was referring to "playboy" being a cheap son of a bitch, but I know you are self proclaimed thrifty as well.

The new one is a good 2 years away, and when it comes out you'll be hard pressed to get one unless you put down a deposit now. And even then, there will be no way in hell you'll get the first shipment as lists are 30 deep now at most dealers. Not to mention some dealers will be asking over MSRP for the new ones when they come out.
I say get this used one for now, and it should hold you over until the new one is easier to get, or something better comes out.

Pit Stop?
The only cars I feel buying new would be a somewhat cool experiences would be an exotic, where you get to go to the factory, meet with people there, and you're one of the very first people to drive/see your car EVER.

And I know a lot of companies have the factory tour/pickup available, but then again, who cares if your Saab 9-3 was delivered in Europe or in Ohio

Just remember... Prices listed on Autotrader are asking prices NOT selling prices... I can list a 76 Pinto on autotrader for $10K, but that doesn't mean I'll sell it for that
... but I know what you mean. Checking prices for comparable cars on ebay/autotrader is a good indicator of what the local market value for a particular auto is...
