I would love to take it for a spin! Obviously haven't been in the new Legacy, but the previous model was on my list of possibilities when I was searching for a used car before getting the TL! Subarus are driven til they die and are supposed to have the best AWD system around! I did find it quite small though - and for the same price, I could've gotten a new (larger) Accord. The '05 should have a great engine! I'm not a big fan of the new gauges they're using --- just reminds me of the cheapo aftermarket gauges you can throw on an old Integra or something. I definitely wish they made the gauges more interesting or elegant. Let me know if you check it out!!

I posted this before... but isn't the Japanese version a lot better lookin'? Don't get me wrong... I like it... but I remember some magazine had a little article on the Japanese version, and the picture showed one that looked different... and I think more powerful too, but I might be wrong.

I believe that the Japanese version was better. It looks ok but I personally wouldn't want to trade in my TL-S for it. I wouldn't mind maybe getting it but not to lose my TL for it. The interior is ok.

Just like Bxscig, i would not give up the TL-S for this...TL is pimp for life. But, i like the looks of the legacy exterior wise...interior i cannot judge because i have never seen it in person....also..i have never driven a AWD car before..so i would love to take it for a spin

I'd still keep the TL-S...not worth giving up IMO.

I dont know why its not on the Subaru Website, but when I did a Dealer Inventory search, I noticed the following car.

2005 Subaru Legacy 05 3.0 R Sedan

Having a hard time finding all the specs on this as well.

I test drove one. Lots of torque. Power band is much smoother than the WRX. No lag with the 5 spd, but I heard the auto lags. Not a cheap feeling interior at all. Handling was far superior to my TL with Tein springs and Eibach sways.

I test drove both the wagon and sedan. Both were automatics. The power band was
good and I thought the interior looked very good. The car rode good and the handling was
great. I think the car is a good value, 250hp turbo engine, awd, dual zone ac etc.
Don't get me wrong, the TL has a nicer interior and is a great value too. Just depends how
much you want to spend. I was quoted $28400.00 for a sedan with auto trans.

I get to drive a Legacy GT in September against a BWM 325 and a Volvo S60. It's for some Car and Driver thing that must be sponsered by Subaru.

I tested both the auto and manual GT. IT's fast, handles very well, and looks nice. It is not as good looking as the TL or TSX IMO. I was shopping these 3 as well as the G35. The interior of the Legacy is not as nice as some of the other cars. It didn't come with HID, homelink, memory seats, steering wheel stereo control. The stereo is not as nice. OTOH, it will put a smile on your face when you make quick turns and zoom around town. The AWD would be useful in various conditions.

So yes, it's a nice car. Depends on what you want. It's more of a driver's car. I know I like the Legacy better than the Maxima, TSX, TL. I also know my passengers would like the other cars better as they are moreso passengers' car.

new subaru legacy

bigbadboss101,
I think you are correct on your views on the new Legacy compared to the TL.
I am going to go test drive both of them back to back this weekend to get a
better perspecitve on both cars. I do not think that one could go wrong with either
car. Both have a reputation for reliability and dependability.

Except from an Email response I got from them:
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and confusion. We have a different search engine to search for new Subaru vehicles at
Subaru dealerships. For some reason, the dealers's website shows the 2005 Outback 3.0R model as a 2005 Legacy 3.0R. Subaru does
not offer the Legacy with 3.0R liter engine, so this is an administrative error in the database system.
