New to this site, new to the J-Series

Hi, so yeah im new to this site. a lil about me...
im 21, and a 7 year Honda Acura tuner.
enough about me though..

Im totally new to the whole J-Series thing. ive built countless numbers of honda four bangers but im intrested in maybe doing a j swap in a DC2 chassis. i know this post looks kinda long winded but just bare with me please, as there is a valid point.

ok so i know what parts are needed to complete the swap, but im clueless as to what motor i should look into. ive read a few threads on this site regarding j series block and head combinations. i also know that many honda V6 motors incorporate an economy system that shuts down 2-3 cylinders depending on driving conditions. are these motors compatible in swaps that dont utilize this eco mode? my reason for asking is that ive taken a liking to the new MDX J37A2 motor. i may sound nieve with the whole bigger is better mentality, but at 278 ft/lbs of torque, i see alot of potentail. i also know that a J35 block with J32A2 heads and RL pistons yeilds a CR of 11.0:1. So is a 3.7 swap out of the question? and with the high comp J32/J35 combination being an option, would it even be advantageous to attemp the 3.7 swap?

With the 3.2 type-s showing huge gains from simple mods such as well tuned intakes, headers and exhaust systems, i figure the 3.7 could really make some great numbers. my problem with the four cyclinder hondas is the lack of torque. i see 800+hp B and K Series engines with less than 400ft/lbs on a regular basis. i love torque, thats why i want to experiment a little with the J motor.

any info you can offer will be greatly appretiated. like i said im a noob to the j motor, yall know these far better than i do so ill let you lead me in the right direction. thanks for your time..

I think you might find more help if you post this somewhere else on this forum (if you haven't done so already). Most people in the Car Talk forum probably don't have the expertise to help you. I'd try to post this in one (or more) of the following sub-forums:

Third Gen TL Performance Parts & Modifications
Second Gen TL Performance Parts & Modifications
Second Gen CL

There are a quite few people who have done similar swaps before and I'm sure you get find great info there. You might also wanna check out V6 Performance, just google V6 performance and the first link is where you want to go (sorry, can't type the name or URL of that site here because it wouldn't let me).

Also contact PowerRev, he has made some parts for J-series swaps into civics, as well as bolt-on parts for certain J series motors (plenums, spacers, thermal gaskets).

You might wanna use the "Search" feature here. I'm sure you will find more info that way.

V6 Performance dot net is your best bet. Look up a member named NVA-AV6. His name is Paul and he's been doing hybrid J-series motors sucessfully for a while now. Lots of members with his J35s and now J37s on there. Good luck!
