New S4 vs New 330I

My girl friend is planning to buy a new car..
She likes the New S4 and New BMW 330I...
Some reason she doesn't like the M3.. so..

I heard the Audi cars tend to have so many problems.. is it true?? However, my girl friend and I both test driven the New S4......... It's The Beast.... V8 engine with 350 HP in that smallass car....... handles extremely well also.. Quattro AWD..

Which car should she buy??

Well...would she make use of a performance vehicle? I dont see the point in buying the M or the S4 if you dont know how to drive one, or you just wanna a car. If shes a spirited like some of us...Im partial to the M because I have one. If not...330CI. BTW...You're 20 and you have a g\f that can afford that type of car.

If she is REALLY into driving then the M3 is the best choice on the list. If she is looking for a nice car that will get her from point A to point B, then the 330i would be best.

The M3 would be my pick from the list but does she really need a car like that? If she doesn't need that level of a car, then the S4 is not practical either and she should get the 330i. It still has plenty of power and would be much cheaper to own than the S4/M3

Good luck getting on a waiting list for the RS4. Unless you got $70-80k in your pocket ready to spend, you aren't getting that car.

Does she need four doors? Does she always have a lot of people in her car, or does she tend to ride alone?

Either way, I love the S4 so just tell her to buy that.

For me, the only reason an S4 would be a better choice is if weather will be an issue. If not M3 will toast an S4 in every way

don't know about S4...but my friend's 2004 A4 has plenty of problems...she bought it new, too. problems that you don't expect from an AUDI...too many to list. but maybe it's just that ONE particular car...not sure.

330i with sports package is sold for $42k...a bit pricey to me.

if the price is in the same range, i would still buy the s4 probably...but again, if i have m3 as a choice...no doubt m3 is the one.

good luck.

Thanks all for helping me out with the question..!

I guess I like the S4 better just because I've driven it and not M3.

I think M3 would be the best choice from the choice..

I'm gonna take my girl friend to the BMW dealer to test drive that M3.

However, question, isn't the whole New M3 coming out pretty soon?

I told my girl friend to buy the 330i since its the cheapest from the group and has enough power and handling..., but she said "everyone has the 3 series but not S4 or M3." .....

M3 with options (over $60 G...)
S4 with options (at most $55 G...)

New M3 is 2 years out. If she wants something in between, tell her the new 335i is coming out in about a year that performs like the current M3 but will fill the price gap between the 330i and the next M3 (roughly $50,000-55,000).

Also tell her to look at the C55 as it is in the same price range as the M3 and S4 if she decides to go with the higher end models.

s4. Audi are mostly chiks cars anyway, plus it gives her 4drs. It's faster than a 330 and you would not have to wait to get it. Get the Alcantara inside and chrome mirros.

I think 330's are straight up chick cars or metrosexual; either way same thing. The 330 is my choice for a girl! M3 if she can really afford it.

Listen to what she's trying to tell you...she's leaning towards the M3! And why shouldn't she? It will be a blast to drive, every single time. And everyone else, don't try and say that women don't care about how a car drives. Even ones that don't care or don't think they do suddenly start caring when they drive a GOOD car that's much better than average. The real contest here is between the S4 and M3. The S4 may have a little more interior room, but who cares? They're both sports cars, and the BMW has a less "cluttered" interior. Tell her to drive both back to back and then see which one she likes better. By the way, she's loaded for an 18 year old!

Tell that to my mother who has an ML500 and treats it like shit, and most of the women that I have dated. Not to mention she is 18...How much driving experience do you think she has to handle one of those ?

I'm actually surprised that your gf is even looking at the M3/S4. That is a lot of vehicle for an 18 year old girl.

No way to say this without being rude, but her dad or whoever is buying this car isn't too bright if he gives an 18 year old girl M3 or S4 power. I can see a 330i at most, but if were her Dad, I wouldn't get more than a 325 or A4 2.0T.

It's even WORSE getting one for an 18 year old guy...girls are less likely to stunt and more likely to treat the car like shit (forgetting to change oil, riding around on 20psi tires, putting in the wrong octane gas...)

I'd like to see that SLK65. You'd have a one-of-a-kind car there since there isn't one.

The SLK55 is sweet however. The SL65 is >$200K.

Okay.. my girl friend has been driving her dad's Benz (SL55 AMG) for over 8 months.. No problems at all.. She drives pretty aggresively too..
Also, I've driven it quieta long time.. but it's not DANGEROUS at all.. Feels very firm and safe..

I don't think her dad's gonna let her daughter buy the 65.. because he has 55.. lol..

BTW, the benz dealer said that there won't be any SLK65.. nothing confirmed though.
Actually, she was considering the SLK55 AMG too, but I think it's too small..

Thanks again for all of you who replied!!
I see some of you guys think M3 or S4 is too much for 18 years old girl and too dangerous to drive for the girl.. Yes, I agree with the fact that those type of cars are too much for her.. but it isn't dangerous at all.

She's the youngest one from the family.. and her parents are extremely wealthy..
However, she's not spoiled at all excerpt for CARS...... she just loves to drive and have fun..

Well, we went to the Mckenna BMW yesterday and tried to find the White M3 but didn't have any. There were only two more White M3 left in the entire CA area.., but the dealer said that they might be able to order one for her.. She finally made her mind for.. "M3"

One more Question~~~

Do you guys think the convertible M3 is more dangerous than the normal Coupe one? She wants to get the convertible, but I don't want her to buy that car if it is fairly more dangerous than the coupe.. Any thoughts would be appreciated..

Thank You!

Aaron

Just because 8 months have been trouble free, doesn't mean it's safe.
It's nuts to give a new driver (someone with less than 5 years experience minimum) that kind of HP.
Your reasoning that 8 months and no problems plus that it "feels very firm and safe" show that you probably are too young to get it too. No offense, but it's hard to say without sounding like an old geezer. hehe (I'm 34)

You said, "She drives pretty aggressively". That is all I need to hear to know FOR SURE without a doubt that I'm correct. Giving her a fast car is just stupid. Her dad needs to have his head checked. He may have $$$, so what? How much $$ does it take to replace his daughter.

You asked about convertable vs. coupe. Coupes are always safer, but I'm getting a kick out of the safety concern all the sudden regarding coupes, but you throw it out the window regarding power.

So if she drives a convertable for 8 months with no problems, is it considered a safe car now?

Seriously, I'm not trying to talk down to you or rip on your gf. I'm sure she's a nice person and I'm sure her parents are too. I just think they have a serious problem with their judgement to give her a car like that.

I have done way more than my fair share of high speed driving and have a lot of track time to back up my conclusions. I've seen experienced drivers get into trouble with power like that, and giving that to the inexperienced just compounds the danger.

white M3 is gorgeous. post some pics once you get it.

doesn't matter what she has, even a civic, she can still drive aggressively and gun it, floor it..whatever you call it. LOL... with that said, it's better to be in something safe at least.

but remember, when you drive 'aggressively', you're putting someone else's life in danger, too.

Be safe and have fun.

I'm gonna waste my 1000th post on this question and say get the S4.

It's a lot more practical and I like it better than either the M3 or new 330i.
