The new Hwy King

A couple years ago i always believe our TL is one of the best long crusier avaiable for such price.

and our TL is capable of going at 90-100mph all day long effortlessly with low rpm operation and quiet

but now seems have changed, i always do 90-100mph for out of town trips and rarely someone can go faster than me without stressing the car, and i found a car that i got bullyed for a few times already and i couldn't keep up with them at a relaxed level

it is the 300C

not once, not twice but more than a few times that i got passed by those HEMIs on hwy even at 100mph, and they still look very relaxed at those speeds.

they look fugly, but they are definitely at the Autobahn level

As long as we're going in a straight line we're faster. The Hemi pulls hard in any gear.

The TL is a comfortable cruiser but as a highway passer, it doesn't have a lot of torque for instantaneously unstressed get up and go. I find cars with more torque do that really well such as the G35...very easy to easily pass others without downshifting due to the VQ torque curve. The hemi has a TON of torque so it'll have that unstressed low reving, instant power feeling.

exactly, but with such price tag on the 300C, it's hard to find any cars can do such thigns

our TL has no torque, basically you need to go to 3rd to get the car to pass somebody

I talked my 300C price from 38 down to 29,5. It's not as expensive as you think.

even at the sticker 38 (with Nav) Thats basically a TL with A-spec.

Yea but you'll get to pass em up at the gas stations... I know that slipstreamed brick gets worse gas mileage...

Hop in an S4, M3, Mustang GT, STi, Evo, 350Z, or any other low-to-mid 5's or high 4's 0-to-60 car and see how much of a highway king the 300C is. With that being said, I ran into one on the highway and he didn't blow by me by that much.

Sounds like it's time for you to get a Type-S, Sam!

While we're on the subject of torque, check out the 300C SRT8 model with its 6.1L w/425hp and 420 ft/lbs tq. All for just $42.7K.

Then again, it can't hold a candle to the "65" series motor from father MB: 604 hp and 738 ft/lbs tq. All for just about what a Brinks truck can carry.

V8 > V6

Headers should add an easy 50 hp to the 300C. Can you really talk them down from $38K to $29.5K?

Were those Chryslers based on Mercedes-Benz parts and engineering, though? I mean, it's not like they're recycling technology from PREVIOUS years; they're improving on it.

The 300C essentially uses a Mercedes transmission, and the suspension is based on the MB E-class; hardly something that can be said of past Chryslers.

The 300C is based on the previous generation E-class chasis. The interior panels are Chrysler quality though. But because of the MB engineering and Chrysler's Hemi engine, I would definitely get one if the price is right.

To tell you the truth, it really depends on how lucky you are. We had a '94 Town & Country and it had absolutely no problems at all until it was totaled at 120k miles a couple of years ago.

Ummmm, the "65" series motor you speak of four more cylinders, and two turbos. Of course a supercharged V8 'can't hold a candle'

My TL is already faster than a type-S i am safe to say at least

and no...350Z cannot keep up with the 300C, and nobody can beat its price

and those hot rods are not really a relaxed hwy crusier

I don't care if the 300C is faster - I'd take a TL over the 300C Hemi......

but..... I'd take the SRT8 over the TL...

Thats what I got on my deal. plus 3 grand trade on a 97 maxima, so the final price was 26.5... But when I told people this on the 300c forum I'm on, they were all mortified and have never seen close to that deal before.

Funny thing is I talked to an SRT8 owner gassing up at my local Sunoco and he indicated that it got better gas mileage than he's previous car (prev gen 300M). He said something like 18mpg. So I believe you.

Well the 300c hemi has MDS (Multi Displacement System). Meaning when you are cruising, it will shut down 4 cylinders. I was skeptical that this would make the car feel slow, but I hardly notice it when I'm in 4 cyl mode or 8 cyl mode. It feels the same.

If it was illegal, how could they sell it? the stock wheel is 20" with a 35 profile tire. the exhaust is emmissions legal. I think he was joking.

Well, MB does make the most powerful NA V8 production engine. It actually has almost a liter less of displacement, and still makes more power than the new Z06.

I think the Charger has a modified intake or exhaust. It's supposed to have 350 hp.

The Charger R/T is available with the R/T *option* that frees up exhaust and other stuff to give it 10hp mor ethan teh standard Charger R/T.
The standard R/T has the same engine specs as the 300C: 340 hp and 390 ft-lb of torque.
