New Honda Accord Coupe -->3rd Gen CL???
What are the chances of Honda USA creating a 3rd gen CL from the Accord Coupe Concept car. Now acura has no coupes and this would be perfect to compete with Infiniti G35 Coupe which right now has little competetion...
What do you guys think?
Sorry if this has been discussed before, i've been away for a while...

Rumors have been around that the S2K might get bigger, or a sub-nsx might be built:
Bigger S2k: http://news.windingroad.com/countrie...n-extra-seats/
Sub-NSX: http://www.vtec.net/modelmatrix/
I don't think Honda is going to create another coupe based off the Accord. If you want a Honda/Acura Coupe, you can just buy the Accord. Same thing with the Civic/RSX... if you want a H/A pocket rocket, just buy the Civic SI. H/A probably figured that the CL stole sales from the Accord, since they were pretty similiar, and many people crossshopped the CL and Accord (like I did).
The coupe market is a fickle one, so unless you have a real good package (like the G37 or Mustang), it's tough to compete in that category.
I'm hoping that acura comes out with another coupe soon, but I'll probably be driving a BMW, G37, or Mustang instread since it appears that Honda/Acura just can't get their shit together... Discontinuing all the coupes (NSX, CL, and RSX) without having replacements ready to go was a VERY bad decision IMHO... H/A has been rumored to be working on at least the 2nd version of the NSX. Since the original was done in the early 90's, that means they have had over 17 years to redesign the NSX, but they still haven't announced when the next gen NSX will be available...
I think that all other acura coupes are going to have to wait till they finish the NSX (2009-2011 ??)...
While I'm waiting for another acura coupe, I'll probably be buy a bmw 1 series, scheduled to be out within the next year... I really like my Acura, but it looks like acura is going to lose me as a customer due to it's inablity to properly manange and maintain it's lineup...

You'll see updates to the TSX, TL and RL, but I'd be suprised to see another Acura coupe (CL) or hatchback (in the case of the RSX) out until the NSX is finally released... We're probably looking at 5 years...
I really hope I'm wrong, but I really think that acura doesn't care about us coupe buyers anymore. There's probably more money in making sedans and suvs for soccer moms...

Wow, from everyone's comment it seems like honda/acura is actually losing a lot of potential customer. Maybe if we show them this thread, they might reconsider

Why do you think brands that started after Acura (1986) like Lexus (1989) and Infiniti (also 1989) are considered more prestigous then Acura. I don't think it's any coincidence that both Lexus and Infinti offer RWD vehicles in their lineups and don't offer any 4 cylinder powered vehicles.

it would have happened long time ago if they care. as SMART as acura is, they will just build another FWD 3500+lbs coupe with 300HP with understeer that will make u wanna kill someone. oh and i am sure it will have a VERY VERY NICE interior.

I never understood the argument that a company wouldn't want to have more than one car in the same segment because they would steal sales from one another. Because if either car gets bought, that's money in their pocket. It doesn't matter what model is purchased. GreenMonster you said that the CL may take sales away from the Accord, but isn't that better for Honda because the CL costs more?

I looked at the accord, and the only reason I didn't buy one was because the 6MT wasn't going to be available for another 6 months (and was going to be at MSRP for months after it's release).

Gonna cost to catch up
I was at my local acura dealer (Hinshaw's) and one of the salesmen told me there was going to be a 2 door TSX or a possible convertible TSX in the near feature. Anyone heard of this?

I've lost a lot of money on my CL...I don't see a plan to get rid of it any time soon just cuz there aren't a lot of coupes out there will all the amenities (sp?) and still cost under 30k.

How big of a possibility is that Accord Coupe Concept? All of my friends LOVE that car and can't believe it's a Honda (btw, my friends hates honda's). I would love to see something along those lines hit the streets. Also what is up with Acura dropping all of their coupes? Are they going to come out with some supercoupe to compete with the likes of a G37?
