It's only a rumor at this point that there will be another CL. No one really knows.

 

The new CL will come out in 2008 with a 340-hp Turbocharged V-6 and 300 pounds of torque equipped with a 6-Speed manual on a RWD platform. Here is a pic

With the demise of the NSX and with the CL being gone for 2 years now, you gotta think that they have to come up with a coupe soon...

Something along the lines of a 2+2 coupe... take a RWD S2000 and add a back seat...

 

the fact is honda sold 100 times more 4 doors than 2 doors that they almost forgot to make a new coupe

 

the RSX is a goner?

 

with the new civic i am not sure if they will keep the integra, since the new RSX is not any faster than the old Integra Type-R, and the new civic will be hella fast

a fully modded type-R is faster than the new RSX even u mod it out

 

so they will definetely drop the Acura badge; its a Honda for the rest of the world anyways.

 

new coupe should be called the x-tec, with a turbo, rwd 300hp+ and weigh in around 2900-3000lbs, that's would be cool.

 

x-tec? No offense.. sounds kinda tacky to me.

 

acura still has a coupe it's called the accord coupe. i don't think there is enough interest in a new version mof the CL to justify spending $$$ in R&D to create a new one. they would make little of the investment back if any profit at all. reason they did away with the CL is that no one really bought it and almost everyone got the 4 door instead.

 

IMO they can get a market share, with a new hot successor of the CL; one that stands with Nissans couterpart (no wheel gaps, RWD, 18" rims, etc etc). Very few new what was the CL; there was poor marketing, and the 6-speeder came late.

well ive been working with acura on my design since 04. they have finally come to their senses. The overall design is basically complete... as a prototype. but is of course something that I am not allowed to discuss. But between the engine, platform, and time of debut, they have pushed it back to 2008. after many meetings with Honda Corp. they have decided to go with something similar to the design we have been working with. i will be getting one of the first CLs out of the factory before they even come on the showroom floor. I will also get a share of .5% of all 2008 Acura CL sales.

here are the original renderings of the vehicle. there have been many reiterations after this, but i obviously cannot release them, sorry.

 

WOW. I would hit that thing so fast your head would spin. Seriously, that is awesome looking! It's like a cross between a TL and an Aston Martin. You really outdid yourself this time jaydef (though your story is a little too weak...sorry).

I thought I read it here in automotive news, but you can't search for 3 character expressions (like CSX). I vaguely remember something about a canadian model being mentioned.

haha, no its not true.. i wish it was... even if they took my design into consideration and produced the car, which would never really happen. but if they did, and still didnt give me a dime id still be happy, bc this car is sick.

 

If i remember correctly a post on this forum lead me to a magazine's website that had a listing of all the registered names by different car companies

Eh, not likin' this one as much. But I think we should all start emailing and mailing the Honda design team copies of the other pictures.

 

damn acura should definately do this......this would KILL the g35c hands down, there needs to be another powerful sports coupe on the market, im getting tired of g35s and 350zs
