New Car for Wife

New Car for Wife
My wife drives an 1998 Integra coupe that she bought new. It has only 60,000 miles and she loves it, but it is getting old and I don't want her to have any reliability issues with it.
Because she loves it, she wants a new car that has the same features: manual trans, leather, hatchback, sunroof, responsive, 30+ mpg, RED, as well as some of the plush features from our 2006 TL. A two seater would be fine.
We looked at Scion, Mitsubishi Eclipse, Saturn, etc and found that the closest thing, so far, is the Honda Civic SI coupe.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanks,
Ranger

And yea, I can...The Tiburon....Mileage might not be spot on, but it has all the other features. Well, not a hatch back either...

60K on the integra and you're worried about reliability!!!!
I took my 97 integra gsr all the way up to 150K miles and the motor was still strong as hell even at that mileage. Unfortunately it was totalled in a hit and run and I had to part with it. I recently picked up a 98 gs-r sedan with 108K on it and is in very good condition. Integra's when taken well care of can last you a LONG time.
Dude, as long as you take care of that car it can easily go all the way up to 300K easily and you can find OEM parts for it very cheap at acuraoemparts.com
In any case, if she's looking for something like the integra, SI Sedan or Coupe FTW!

i say a new Scion TC
even if you get a ton of goodies on it you should be able to get it for 17-18 grand without tax, title and plates.
plus that 4 cylinder in the TC the same one as in the 4 cylinder Camry so as long as you do regular oil changes and that kind of jazz you'll get 300,000 miles out of it easy.

Oh and if you sell the integra, just remember, there is high demand for them because they are great little cars. Many still fetch over blue book especially ones that haven't been modded.

Volvo C30?

I was looking at the C30 in the showroom yesterday (215 hp, 230+ torque, 6M), then priced one out on the internet. Once you add leather, power seat(s), sunroof, etc., the MSRP on the C30 ballons out into TSX money, and the TSX 6M is a nice driving car.
Also, isn't the RX-8 a hatchback? Unfortunately, the RX-8 gets horrendous mileage. I did like the interior and the driving experience, though. And a used C5 Corvette is a hatchback, with horrible MPG.
G/L!

New Car for Wife
The Acurazine forum is the best thing since slice bread. I always enjoy the discussions; some very helpful and some just fun to read.
My wife chuckled about being traded for a car although I got that 'Don't even think about it look.'
We looked at all the cars suggested and decided to take the advice of those who said the the Integra is worth hanging onto. It has never given us any trouble and its looks bely its age. I think that we will have it checked over by a trusted mechanic and just keep it a few more years.
By the way, my wife's previous car was a 1983 RX7 that she held onto until she test drove the Integra; 15 years!
Thanks to all that responded.

Good luck with the integra!
If you are really worried about reliability, spend a few bucks more, find a good acura dealership, buy parts from acuraoemparts.com as you need them to make up for the extra service costs at the dealership and your integra should last you a long time.
I had my '97 integra serviced mostly at a dealership but when funds were tight I went to a local shop that I seemed to trust, but in the end I regretted it and should have stuck with only going to the dealership.
just remember acuraoemparts.com, it can save you a lot of money on parts!

there's nothing to worry about.. the teg looks so good and has great mileage for the age. why waste money on a new car when you don't have to? and especially since she's still happy with the current one.

The 1998 Integra should be fine for another five years unless it's wrecked.
Normal maintenance = replace timing belt (and water pump) between 60K and 80K, change out plugs and fluids per maintenance schedule, new brake pads and maybe a new clutch sometime (@80K for my 1988 Integra).
Otherwise, I've replaced 1 distributer igniter (subject of a recall) and one fan resistor on my 1988 with 160K+ miles (bought new), which I haven't gotten around to selling yet.
