Lightbulb new car? sell 1st gen tl

hey everyone, so im going to be getting a new car within a couple months and would like some opinions and advice.. i love my tl but the clock just hit 196k the engine has like 100k and is strong, but my tranny will go sometime and i just need the reliability of a new car + warranty and im happy. cars are pretty cheap now and my insurance will clear this summer of all accidents (over 3 yrs).
must have:
-5spd or 6spd manual
-decent power
-attractive
-$15,000 - $25,000 - price range
-reliable!!
- modifiable? ha is that a word

those are enough things to get the ball rolling.. as for my TL i will replace the tranny if it goes before i sell so it will live.. my dad wants me to just trade it in, i wanto sell privately.. what do you all think? thanks!

that's a pretty flexible price rane.

i'm sure you can find a 3g TL or a 1g G sedan/coupe at that price.

EDIT: nevermind the G then.

They might, but I doubt it.

You could get a Civic Si coupe/sedan under $25,000 brand new even with navigation

I'd part out the TL, I'm sure it has plenty of stuff thats still in good shape.

eBay or Craigslist some of the stuff if you have the TIME and ability to have a car just sitting around. You'll get the most money that way. Otherwise you're looking at only a few thousand dollars from a private party.

Uhm...you think you'll get $5K for a 1st gen tl? Don't kid yourself. Not trying to be a dick but the car is worth 3-3.5...You can get a lower mileage one for 5.

I would def not trade it in - real money you'll be lucky to get 1500 for it.

Why no INFINITI?

If you take your time and search, you could find a clean CPO S2K around the top of your price range...definitely a lot of bang for the buck...but I wonder what the insurance would be like for you, since you're relatively young. My second choice would be the MS3 closely followed by the GTI.

You could get a nice 2004+ S2000 in excellent condition and low miles starting around $20,000+

I'd know, I've been keeping an eye out

An S2000 can't be a good car in the snow. I see you live in PA. Does it snow a lot in the area of PA that you live?

You don't want a fast car at age of 19. I'd say get V6 MT Accord if you want something reliable, powerfull, fast, mods available and under $25K. There is nothing much out in market for what you are looking for, you have to leave one behind either price, reliability or power.

If it was me I'd pick something fun to drive, thats what Mini is.

You need to do some research. You can buy a used G35 for less than a used S2K.

GL with insurance being 19 with a S2K...

and at 19 You should buy some kind of family/sport sedan (MT ofcourse) so that you can save some money. I had a 93 civic hatchback --->DX<--- and liability insurance (around $500) was more than my dad's 2003 Accord full coverage. And that was with no accidents, no tickets. I am glad I bought 1G TL now I only pay around $350 for 6 months FULLY covered.
