New Car Finally!! Pics
New Car Finally!! Pics
I'm happy to announce I picked up a 2007 350Z Touring last week and so far I'm very happy with it. I know a lot of people don't like the hood but I don't mind it and it will probably grow more on me anyway (maybe just because it's "new"). I thought the interior of the Enthusiast trim was a bit drab, so I stepped up to the Touring (VDC, i.e. stability control was an important factor too).
Right now I'm faithfully observing the break-in period
while reading the owner's manual and resarching on my350z.com
*No I didn't buy it at carmax, that's where I sold the CL*
Guess it's time for a username change too.

even though i love the overall look of the Z, i've still never gotten used to nissan's use of the doorhandles set vertically on the side of the door. very nice though
. any future plans for it?
awesome, welcome to the club.
I initially didn't like the hood, but it looks better in person. Easy to get used to it... Too bad too many mods aren't available for the newer Z's... which may or may not be a good thing.

Thanks everyone. For starters, I definitely need a radar detector. I'm not crazy about the antenna so I want to get the stub/S2000 style antenna, and of course 20% tint. Then I'll start looking into other things.
Oh daemonicus, I think I've pinched my fingers in the door handles a couple times already
It's hard making the switch

Edit: I want to add the rear lip spoiler too. I think it's a nice touch.
Note what I bolded:
The car arrived at our shop with just 51 miles on the ticker, and after the dyno break-in and power testing, he left with 73 miles on the odometer.
As noted previously, the Dyno Dynamics dyno is load based, and reads about 8-13% lower than a typical DynoJet. Most bone stock 03-06 VQ35's measure about 220-225whp on our dyno. It is called the heart-breaker for good reason.
Jeremy's VQ35HR 6SP put down a very respectable 245whp, so we are definately seeing a solid 20+whp improvement vs. the standard VQ35. AF was super consistent between runs, at 11.8-12.0:1
Power builds to 6500rpm, and then just flattens out, which is very different from the rapid drop-off we see on the standard VQ35's.
FYI: We also peaked under the dashboard, and can confirm that the VQ35HR uses a completely different ECU. It has three snap in connectors, and all current Plug-and-play EMS systems on the market will need to be reconfigured to work on the 07.
I'll get some engine pics and vids posted shortly.

5hp increase or a 20whp increase?
07 has the VQ35HR then?

Yes it does have the VQ35HR.Here's one from the front at a low angle. I know that front plate looks hideous but once I get the metal tags there's not much I can do about it, unless I want to keep paying $50 fines
savage: A couple more pics of the hood are here: http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/2007_350Z
I think these are my favorite Z wheels as well. Glad everyone else seems to like them too
thanks again for the comments

I almost bought an 05 350Z in October 2004, but my oldest daughter needed help with a 5th year at WWU. Instead I bought a new 05 S2000 in Feb 2005. I have no regrets at all. I like your color and the new changes look good.
Congrats! Welcome to the club!
I'm a former 03 and now a 06 owner.
The difference for the large dyno HP gap yet small advertised gap between the 06 and 07 VQ's is due to the SAE ratings. The 06 engine was down-rated to 293hp under the new ratings versus 206 for the new engine, which is a 13hp difference.
BTW, the 06 had the majority of the changes that the 07 has (LED tail lights, 18" rims standard, upgraded interior) - what is new for 07 is the engine, new hood and bluetooth controls on the steering wheel.
