New Car Decision - Thoughts

With all of your help, I'm trying to decide what is the right direction and makes the most sense based on my below requirements.

Just a little backround, I have an 03-CLS with 140k miles. Nothing wrong with it other than I need new brakes soon. My plan was to keep it as a DD/winter car and buy something else for the nice weather.

If I buy the 335i or G, I would keep the AC. If I bought the Accord, I would trade the AC in because I dont need 2 FWD cars.

-Price range is around $30k + TTL out the door(Looking a $35k cars b/c I know I can work down)
-Certified/Pre-owned warranty
-Less than 10k miles

1. Used 1yr old G37 (coupe)
2. Brand new Honda Accord (coupe)
3. Used 1yr old 335i (coupe)

Thanks for the help.

Have you driven each single one of them to see which you like the best?

All three are 2 door coupes but are both very different in terms of driving characteristics. The Accord will most likely cost you the least to maintain on a long term if you plan on keeping it like your CL-S.
The 335i will thrill you the most and will be easy and cheap to mod if you want more power. The G will be loud and sporty as well with a more hi-tech feel than the 3er.

Let us know how it goes.

You already have a Japanese car. Try the german car .... it is completely different. I am sold.
Have you thought about getting something like an MCoupe or something? Those are pretty wicked.

IMO #2, but not brand new, certified pre-owned. Save even more money. Oh, and make sure it's a 6mt.

And the manual versions have a different feel from the auto trans versions in each car (at least w/the 335 and G).

Whatever you buy, don't get new. No reason to if you're not looking to get a new model that just came out.

Thanks guys. Just to answer some of the questions....

I have driven the G and Accord, but not the 335i yet. I am familiar with driving a rear wheel drive car so that is not an issue. I am confident that I will be satisfied with the feel of the BMW.

I would love to get an Mcoupe, but it's too darn expensive and I need something with a warranty.

You gotta test drive the 335i I always liked the car until I drove it, then I fell in love with it. I'd get it used with a warranty.

I would take the G37 Coupe if your looking for a sports car. The 335i is nice too.

G is nice but ride too harsh for me on a daily basis and the trunk is too small. Thus your remaining choice is the BMW.

Every car is different, but what do you think will last long, the G or 335i?

My acura is had it's trans (oil jet kit) installed at 50k and has been fine since. I'd like to keep it as long as I can but I'd like to get something a little nicer as a 2nd car.

Couple of the cars I would love to have but wont have a warranty are vette and NSX.

It seems you haven't driven the 335i. Just because you've driven a rear wheel drive car does not mean that you know how the BMW will feel. Driving a Mustang or a Camaro is not the same as driving a BMW. Test drive it and you'll forget about the other 2 options.

Given the three, I say the 335i, then the Honda. But is the desire more sport or sport/luxury? The A5 may also fit the bill.

A5 is a really nice choice idk if it's in the same price range though, might be a little more and it's slower then all the other choices.

My 01 CL-S is at 165k and still going strong, but I kinda want something a little different. I'm strongly considering the G37S myself.
Problem is, my CL-S is probably only worth $2,500. So, now I'm thinking I'll keep my CL as my DD and get an 04-05 S2000 for fun.

Have you considered a S2000? Keeping the Ac and getting a fun weekend car like a S2000 would provide you just as much fun AND save you a lot more $$.

I have yet to find an A5 around $35k otherwise that would be in the list as well.

S2000 is too small for me.

Moog, the Accord is in there because that is the only coupe brand new I would buy at this time. The new G and 335i are more than what I want to spend, hence sticking around the $30k price range new/used.

RWD baby. The only exception for driving awesomeness is a MINI-S. Try one out for your Fun Car - u can get an utterly sweet one for 30 billz.

I know I am going completely against my thread, but how much of a deal can I get on a brand new G37?

Based on the below when I selected the car I want, it's only $36k. Is it possible to get this car for around $31-32k these days?

I probably wont get more than $5-7k for my car and may put down $5k. That would put me around $460/month payment with 0.9% for 60 months. Now if I get the price down to like $31-32k, that would give me around $390 a month which isnt bad considering I get $500/month car allowance from my work. Thoughts?

I cannot find a G or 335i with the interior/exterior/mileage combo within 75 miles of my house. I dont need to purchase tomorrow so I can always check periodically. I pretty much have ruled out the Accord.

I still think there's no reason to buy new with this particular car. There should be enough used ones out there. And even if it's farther away than 75 miles, so what? I went 120+ to buy my Audi and 200+ to sell it.

If you want to, go ahead. It seems like you keep your cars a long time so depreciation really isn't an issue. But if you think for any reason you'd get rid of this car in the next three years, don't buy new. That's my

I guess I can look further than 75 miles. That really isn't a problem for me. I plan on keeping the car for at least 3 yrs. Only reason I have mine now is cause it's paid off. I'm starting to get the itch for something new.

At least make a trip to your nearest dealer that has one and test drive it. The spec B is AWD, 6MT and about 260 HP.

Oh lol... then yeah 335i Coupe is pretty hott from the list you gave you should get that. I had a sedan (TL-P) and then bought my RSX I really don't like the coupe hassle. I do admit it's more pleasing to the eye then my TL, smaller cars are my thing.
