New Car buying tips? Mustang GT

So I was at a Ford Dealer today looking at a Base 2012 Mustang GT. They wouldn't budge under $30,500 before taxes and stuff.
I went home and got on Truecar.com. Instantly got a deal of $26,500. I don't want Red though but it gives me hope that I can get a good deal.

Are there any tips or any other sites I should check out?

Should I trade my TL in or sell it privately? If trading in, how should I work that in?

Print that truecar webpage and bring it with you to the dealership. Did you put the right packages and options when you ran the truecar?

About the trade in, you will most likely get a little bit more money out of selling it privately, but I never do it because I'm lazy. If you are okay with selling it privately, you should do it before you deal with the salesman.

If you want to just trade in your car to the Ford dealer, just don't tell them about your TL when you negotiate. Once you are set on the new car deal, negotiate on your trade in. If you do both at the same time, you will get confused as hell and get ripped off probably.

Regarding trade or private sell, look into your local tax regs. Here in Arizona, the value of your trade-in reduces the price of the purchase for sales tax purposes so the difference is usually a wash. Makes it much easier to decide to trade.

Move on from that dealer. Trust me, there are deals out there for 2012 Mustang GTs. You might have to expand your search to find a deal that you want.

Talk about your trade once you agree on a price for the new car.

Here ya go, as an example... http://www.koonssterlingford.org/new...1186a05732.htm

You can get xplan supplier pricing on Fords by joining the mustang club of america for$ 50. I did this on my f150.Takes all the negotiation out except for the trade in. It usually works out around invoice minus rebates. Sometimes there are extra rebates available to only xplan buyers. Look it up on the mustang club website.

Would it be best to wait for more 2013s to hit the lots to get a better deal on a 2012? Not a fan of the 2013 styling anyway.
