New 2013 Accord is here

The new 2013 Honda Accord is here and it looks awesome, I think Honda had better design engineers than Acura. The Current TL is a disaster design. Every time i look a TL on the road i say "What were they thinking" when they designed this car

Certainly a promising design but I'll wait until I see the car in person. In many instances shots taken from the two angles above don't always accurately reflect how the car looks in action.

Either way, even with the new styling it doesn't make me love my 12 TL any less. And having bought it just last month, I had plenty of options to choose from, so the aesthetics weren't a problem for me. (the front beak on the 09-11 are another story )

I do like the 'new' sedan, but I can't help but think it's the result of Camry/Genesis porn. The coupe on the other hand....the rear is atrocious.

Meh, but it does look better than the atrocious looking Camry. The 12 TL is decent looking. Much better than the 09-11.

This is not rendering, this is the actual 2012 model as per honda.com and it will out some time next month.
Acura need to do some thing about the TL design specially from the back. Front is pretty decent but the back i refer to as "chicken ass design"

To each his/her own on how they view the 2009 to 2011 design. I don't partially care for the passive looking 2012 look nor did I care for the 3G look so I passed when it was released. As far as the 4DR 2013 Accord rendering it looks like a been there done that design. I guess folks aren't truly creatively out there as they put on, they go for the safe re-run designs.

...and somebody needs to get back behind the PC and get a little creative with the design.

So I believe the 2013 accord will get the earth dreams V6 and the 6 speed auto? If so that will be a pretty good sedan. I like the LED jewel headlights.

And the Genesis took its design cues from Lexus and Infiniti...

And around we go...

I actually feel the exact opposite. I don't think I'd buy the 2012 because of the front end. Styling is about being unique, IMO. I don't want my Acura to look like every other car out there.

I don't understand this. This is the second time I've seen a comment like this pertaining to deleting a thread and posts because they don't pertain to the original thread. I don't mean to be contradictory here...I just want to know the thinking behind it.

I am one who truly appreciates the art or phenomena of the ever-evolving conversation. Have you ever been speaking with someone and asked how you got on this subject, then backtracked to determine how? Its actually pretty amazing how this happens. Let the conversations evolve unless there is some other reason not to do that.

Hogan, we have a Ramblings section in Off Topic for exactly that. We try to keep things on topic here in the different Acura model sub forums to assist people and it keeps searching for information easier. Less clutter, etc.

car looks good to me. At least from the side view it looks like they stopped the headlight from sticking out like a bubble. I hate that on current models. front end reminds me of previous ES models, which isn't a bad thing, and the rear isn't offensive. I like it

Has similar side lines to the ILX I saw last week at an Acura dealer. So it looks like the Accord is moving more towards Acura styling.

Even though you said you got it, a little further explanation might be helpful.

I never said anything about threads, and when I said I would delete posts, I meant those between myself and tl_2010 pertaining to his past registration.

I usually take stuff like this to PM's, but since this was his thread to begin with, it was easier to post here because sometimes noobs have a problem with the PM process.

When he replies and tells me which option he wants to use, I will then delete the posts that have nothing to do with the thread.

And yes, we do sometimes delete posts that have nothing to do with the original thread if they are way off topic, self serving, done by a known troll, etc., and that's how we keep threads on topic and interesting, as Ken1997TL said.

Really? So looking more like a KIA or Hyundai is a better design? The 2012 Acura TL is so much better looking than that Accord. I agree on the 09-11 TL though.

Thank you! I can't believe it took 30 posts in this thread for somebody to say something. It is such a tragedy that Honda's "all new" models just look like face-lifted versions of the previous models. The new Civic, CR-V and now the new Accord are just weak attempts at designing a "new" car. The Civic was particularly disappointing considering they held onto the 8th gen Civic for an entire extra model year, (6 years compared to the typical 5). I can't believe they needed an entire extra year to come up with a design that so closely mirrors the previous generation Civic.

This "new" Accord already looks dated and it hasn't even been released yet. By the time its model cycle is over it will look ancient.

Honda and Toyota are both guilty of resting on their laurels lately. I have a feeling it's going to be too late by the time they wake up and realize what a decade's worth of mediocre and often downright lazy designs has done to their market share. I think many consumers, (myself included), are willing to give up a little bit of that long term reliability in favor of something fresh, inspiring and innovative. Ford, Chevy and Hyundai/Kia are probably just eating this up right now.

^^ The "problem" is that those warmed over designs are propelling the Civic and CR-V to record sales numbers since their introductions. Some may not like them, but apparently Honda knows what it's doing. (Same, BTW, with the new Camry - I think it's ugly but it's flying out of Toyota showrooms).

I like it. It looks more athletic to me, and the rear and profile look sculpted, just like how they claim. I don't see how anyone can just look at a couple pictures of this car and determine its not good. We don't know what the interior looks like. We don't know what kind of new features it will have. We don't know how it will drive.
I'll reserve final judgement until its released and I can see/drive one in person.

I've seen a list of nearly all of the 9th generation Accord's features. They're VERY impressive.

I think it looks a hell of a lot better than the 8th gen, especially the coupe.

And as long as there are improvements elsewhere, it'll be a fine Accord.

new coupe looks sick i think, honda accords will always sell no matter what they look like, but I think it looks good! We can't expect a honda accord to look like a mercedes or lexus. It is still a honda accord at the end of the day.

I've always found that I liked the Accord coupes more than the sedans look wise, but for some reason I like the new sedan better. It looks a little bit more curvier, and something about the front end of the coupe bothers me. I think its the grille, both upper and lower.

^ To go one step further... there is a 73 page (and going) Accord topic in Automotive News. Probably best to keep the convo in one place. I would merge... but the timeline of this one would throw that topic off...
